Best deal/coupon for on-line wine shopping

I see that. On Zachys DC it says “Promotion code accepted - thank you” but then it doesn’t actually deduct anything from the total.

Ah, I figured it out. The 6-pack deals don’t stack with the 20%, even though the website literally says “stack it for extra savings” with an arrow pointing to the 6-pack deals.

.

“exclusions apply”. happened on the dc site for me too. but the deals were so good for those bottles that I didn’t care and just ordered way less.

For what it’s worth though, the excluded wines do at least bump you towards your total, they just don’t get discounted further.

Finally got EXTRA20SHIP to work at zachys DC. It took some experimenting to figure out what’s included, but worth it for some very good prices.

My wife and I got married during covid and missed out on the big wedding party so we’re planning a make-up reception next summer. I stocked up on 2012 Michel Gonet Blanc de Blancs Mesnil Sur Oger Grand Cru at $28/per and 2016 K Vintners Powerline Syrah at $24/per for the reception. In case anyone else is interested, here are a few of the other good deals I “had to” add to hit the spending limit for the promo:

16 Cascina Fontana Barolo $37
16 Poderi Colla Barolo Bussia Dardi Le Rose $37
17 Vajra Barolo Ravera $52
17 Vajra Barolo Coste di Rose $45
16 K Vintners Royal City Syrah $60
16 Lavinea Tualatin Estate Pinot $25
19 Rivers Marie Sonoma Coast Pinot $28
19 Rivers Marie Silver Eagle Pinot $48
14 Force Majeure Epinette $33
16 Force Majeure Parvata $33
19 Génot-Boulanger Pommard VV $32
15 Corliss Cabernet $33

Also can confirm that the amex deal worked at zachys DC.

WHWC has a great sale. I picked up a 375ml 2018 F. Haag Juffer BA for $60(!) and some bottles of NV Edouard Brun Champagne for $27.

Thx to Kurt, I bought 3 cascina Fontana barolo 2016s for ~$42 after Amex discounts. I’ve had the 2013 this past winter and it was splendid.

The WHWC sale ending in 8 hours is pretty banging – I dropped more than $2,500. Most obvious deal I saw is 2017 Braida Ai Suma at $65. That is perhaps the best Barbera in existence from a Barbera-friendly (i.e. hot) Piedmont vintage with good scores from reputable critics. I was easily good for 6 of those.

Other treats:
2017 Vajra Bricco del Viole $73
2012 Palmer & Co Champagne $50
2016 Parusso Mariondino $53
2019 Pinard Le Grand Chamerlin $45

Enjoy50 for $50 off $300 WDC no idea of expiry

Enjoy50 is not new, but when it was posted before it expired without me ever using it. I tested it and it works now, so this is one they’ve brought back to life. Interesting.

The bad news is that when I went to test it, I saw that TopCashback is now 2% on WDC. It had been 5% forever.

50/300 and 5% > cashback is weak sauce considering their pricing. Also, my WDC warehouse (FL?) is totally picked over and doesn’t appear to have updated in some time.

If WDC does nothing interesting in terms of coupon/cashback combinations for the next few months and then has anything close to the all-out bonanza of last fall (30% cashback plus good coupons) then I’ll probably re-up on StewardShip again next year. I don’t particularly want to buy wines online during the summer anyway and have to deal with shipping/holding. If nothing good shows up by the end of the year I’ll know that the era has ended. Til then it’s just wait and see.

That 30% thing was just weird, not that I’m complaining of course. But if you’re going to be getting out of, or severely cutting back on, the coupon and cash back discounts, why make essentially your last one the biggest one you ever did?

Maybe Ben’s on to something and it will be an annual thing - maybe they’re going bigger but far less frequent. I could live with that.

Had to be an end of first quarter thing. Someone else recently had a post that explained that now they must be trying to just move inventory and maximize every dollar because they either finished a funding round or funding has dried up due to the economy.

Both RMN and Rakuten are posting about huge discount weeks and noticeably WDC is missing from both of them in any meaningful way. I just let me stewardship lapse and I really don’t see anything that would make me regret that anytime soon.

Oh, such an exciting email I just received from WDC!

10% off your $200+ order*. Code CHILLOUT

Don’t forget the 2.5% cashback! [snort.gif]
