I noticed that too, across other categories as well. There also seems to a whole lot more back vintage (non discountable) stuff too, which pumps up the top line numbers of what is theoretically available, but a 78 Guigal La Mouline for $4k isn’t germane to me.
The economy is improving, and WDC is likely facing higher warehouse labor and shipping costs, so perhaps they are trying to squeeze buyers a touch more. A few Rioja reports also came out recently and its possible that El Puntido got some flash score from someone. Kind of strange to see it north of $100…I picked up 2006 for $40ish.
I think they watch this thread, and having been called out on that item, adjusted the rate. But other Rioja like Muga Especiale ($32 at TW) went from $39 to $49 overnight or stuff like San Vicente from $51 to $69. The latter was just at $41 at K&L a little while ago as well.
I get that some price dynamism is normal/ok in online retailing…but if they are expecting less clueful customers to just reload on prior purchases when looking at their history tab, normal people would notice those $ differentials.
But as I noted before, it could also be that scores were published, and that select names are getting revalued due to that.
WS low shows around 90 for me. Even with a 15% off that drops it to around 80. Not bad for their 2016, but if you want cheaper, you can get the 2013 for 20 less.
Eh, I just bought. 85 before any discounts with free ship is a damn good deal for the 2016. No-brainer if you have the 100 off 250 (3x comes out to 255).
I mean it was like $66/bottle (incl tax) if you bought it when it was a “limited time offer” plus a 20% coupon. I suspect that is why people don’t find $95 pre-tax a very good deal.
I for one am grateful for this tip. It enabled me, with a $50 off $150 discount, to acquire 2 bottles of Fuligni 2016 for under $65/bottle, tax included and shipped free. It would cost 40% more per bottle to get it anywhere else.
It was actually $85 pre-tax which was the same as the pre-arrival price for a 6 bottle minimum. $77 on pre-arrival if you bought a case.
So unless you were planning to buy it in case quantity, the posted deal was as good as it got. I rarely buy in case quantities so I thought it was a good deal. And good enough for others since it quickly sold out
Just got another wine.com “we miss you” $100 off $300 codes. Just so hard to find stuff that I really want where even a potential 33% discount makes for a good deal.
Not being able to get cash back on the 100/300 coupons really reduces their value. You can get the same combined discount with a 50 off 200 coupon at the current 12% cash back rate on RMN.
