Some wine isn’t good. We tasted a newbie last year and all agreed the wine wasn’t very good.
Interesting . . .
And by not good, did you mean it was ‘faulty’?
Curious to hear more.
Cheers
I’d love to be involved, thanks!
Not good as in didn’t taste anything like the sales pitch implied and just didn’t seem like quality wine and none of us would buy it at the premium price that it was being offered. That said because it wasn’t faulty, it ended up being offered without our reviews and I guess some of it sold. I’m not really sure who bought or if anyone has opened one yet or whether it met their expectations.
Thanks for the reply - was this info shared with anyone? And based on what you said, I thought the offer was not allowed but that does not seem to be what happened. Is that correct?
It sounds from statements above that offers like this may not be accepted’ this year. Correct?
Cheers
You’d have to ask Todd about all that. I just drink what’s in front of me!
If a Newbie’s wine is not approved by the tasters, yes, they are told, and I explain it’s not a fit, they don’t participate. For BD15, as outlined in the first post, we’re figuring out which total 100 participants will be best for the event
I can attest to this fact, I personally gave a producer the Berserkerday death penalty.
Let’s just say that’s not the fun part of being involved in berserkerday.
Better to piss off one person then let swill into the event and piss off 100 people
So if I buy a wine approved by the pre-approved tasters and I think it’s swill do the tasters get fired or should I assume that I have a palate of a yak?
Careful…weren’t YOU one of the Newbie tasters? Don’t invite the hassle upon yourself!
Nope sorry I’m too lazy for that
Both!
For any of you who share my situation - a cellar at or near capacity (unless I leave boxes of bottles on the floor) - now is a good time to start planning your next four months of nightly (and, for some here, daily) wine consumption. Gotta make some room!
Relatively new to WB and was wondering if there is an outline of the purchasing process in advance or if each producer handles transactions differently. Having perused previous BD offers I can foresee the inevitable and want to make sure I capitalize on the offers that are most compelling.
Welcome Josh,
There is no standard process for transactions. Ranges from “call me on my cell” to “enter this code when checking out” depending on the producer.
Part of the nuttiness we love
Sign up for Grand Cru Cru - $35?
(Note the GC next to Brig’s Avatar)
Gets you a preview day and a one day head start to buy from Berserker Businesses (BB). So you can see every offer the day before AND buy the day before from (only) BBs.
Monopole Cru (MC) - $100?
Gets you offers that only MC members
can buy on BD and throughout the year
Thanks to all the volunteers helping organize! Looking forward to another crazy two days, but mostly it’s been great to get to know folks online and having many of you visit the winery for tastings (bottle and barrels, when the timing works out)! It’s fun geeking out on great wines!
First BD here and new to the board so I have a dumb question - is this only/primarily for domestic producers? I browsed through old threads and didn’t see many imports on offer.
Excited for the day, regardless!
It’s primarily focused on the small producers. Guys and gals in the trenches that are passionate about their craft.
Our way of supporting the little guys that dont have marketing teams, big distributors, and use gallons of mega purple.
Welcome
For those not familiar with BerserkerDay, I have nearly every prior BerserkerDay in the BerserkerDay Archive - in the categories list of the forum, you’ll find it at the bottom.
