BerserkerDay 15 - starting the process and discussion...(January 26th, 2024)

If you are willing to buy from the dozen or so who get almost no orders, year after year, I’ll include them, as then I can promise at least one order to each, from Dave!

I can’t solve everyone’s problems - I’m a buy-side guy…

Interesting questions you’ve raised. I think the thinking behind the LV quote is that it’s an exclusive luxury brand, sold to a high end market who want to signal to others their wealth or luxury taste. I’m sure that applies to a segment of berserkers and wine consumers, but I see just as many producers get extensive love here (take Sandler for example) because they offer quality product at non-luxury prices. I know QPR is a dirty word for some, but I (and I suspect many others) are all about it. If a favorite high end producer of mine offers a sale, I’m more likely to jump on it and buy their product.

As always, very thoughtful post by Marcus.

When I work with a producer on their offer the first thing I ask is what are you trying to get out of this long-term?"

It varies and so the positioning of the offer will vary. Just trying to unload some excess inventory? Trying to build up a mailing list? Introducing a new label to the community?

There have been a number of offers that were just hit and runs by design and that’s terrific. Or even very limited offers, say only five or six cases at this price.

Like Tercero, PGC, Goodfellow and others that view berserkers community as a important facet of the overall business strategy then a commitment is required beyond just a slick offer, like any business.

Well, the air up here is rather rarefied! Glad to see you will maintain some shelf space for the small and offbeat … :muscle:t2:

I wish to remain the champion of the small and offbeat!~

What the hell am I going to do on January 27? Oh, lick my CC wounds a day early….

I always thought it would be a good idea to have BD folders by region. What makes the volume of producers difficult is trying to get to what you want without missing it.

Having them bundled by region would help my shopping experience…Washington, Oregon, California, Europe, rest of world and then food separated from wine.

Its already a lot to digest just scrolling thru poats based on recent posts to bump them up.

What are ‘BD folders’?

I plan to use our tagging system well during BD15, so it’s easy to find, and have a reference point for everyone looking at regions, i.e. #bd15santabarbara and the like

Same thing, topics, or every offer starts with region in caps…WASHINGTON: XXXXXXXX

Tags will solve that purpose fully. See The King of WB Tags @Otto_Forsberg as an example - they appear in the title and are fully searchable

All those little tags after his thread title are searchable, but also indicate exactly what the subject is

Finally! A real regal title!

Tags make a ton of sense here. I like having everything in one place, but quickly searchable. Region and category (wine, glassware, food, etc.) would be particularly helpful.

I see what you did there…

Might there be any Dick’s available on BD? Asking for a friend.

I guess you’ll have to wait and find out!
