Invites have gone out for those sellers the committee voted on - I tried to stay neutral in the process, however, if you have not been notified already about the event, your winery/company was not chosen.
I hate this part, so much, as I want to help EVERYONE, but as was outlined in all the BD15 discussions thus far, we had to make some cuts so we didn’t just serve up a ‘too big for our britches’ offering like last year.
All invites have gone out, all those who are selling have been added to the group that has the Pre-Launch forum visible, to start working on your offers. I have a handful of alternates and they, too, have been notified
I am very strongly (again) considering a mid-year event, as I had to turn down dozens of sellers, including a handful of newbies post-tasting, so stand by
The positive is that it gives both newbies and perhaps ‘stalwarts’ to have another opportunity to share our love and wines with the WB community. One. major negative is the time of year and potential ‘shipping issues’ . . .
For us on the East Coast it makes no difference. Order on BD and it ships 2 months later anyways. Do something in June or July and it will ship 2 months later in Sept/Oct
Would love to see a “Newbie” sale as a standalone event. Unlike many (most) here, I actually do have a budget and I usually only exceed it by 300%. In achieving that level of austerity, I tend to go back to the familiar well (I’m looking at you Saunter and Ed Kurtzman!) in lieu of unfamiliar names. A Newbie event would force me to focus on the unknown, which I really want to do, and will if I have a bit of time to recharge my credit limit.
I know it’s tough Todd. I hate it for you and the guys who didn’t make it in. Love the idea of a midstream event. I loved newbiepalooza a couple of Novembers ago.
I also notice a bunch of guys who haven’t been on here since last year. I would love to see the growers/wine makers on here more. I glean so much from your insight and commentary about the ins and outs of the business from the inside. I encourage you guys to come on here more when possible!!!
Ok, final launch times have been made, and I’ve kept the ‘15’ theme going (since it’s BerserkerDay 15) with 15 Newbies, and 105 total sellers (I also think we’re getting close to 15 Monopole-Cru-only offers, coincidentally) - the Newbies will be ‘Newbies at Noon’, as they’ll all launch at 12:00 Pacific!
Add to the excitement of the event by sharing on your social media - Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn (I finally started doing some WB stuff on LinkedIn, and will post the raffle on there as well) - as the more who come, the more fun it is (like a party, which it IS!)! I have a Facebook event linked in the first post if you want to share that, and hopefully the sellers will share the event by email (as @Erica_O_r_r just did, brava!) and/or social media. Trust me, the years we’ve done that have been the biggest, craziest, most fun BerserkerDays. Let’s keep it going!
Speaking of raffle, that posts TOMORROW!!! And I met with some of the wonderful Love146 people just yesterday, in person
Really looking forward to BerserkerDay 15. I was just writing up my notes from the newbie tasting we did and got excited thinking about how fun the day is. Just one more week to Preview Day and the Early Purchase Offers!
