US$205 for a botlle of 1963 Domaine Cazes Rivesaltes CuvĂŠe AimĂŠ Cazes.

Other than that, only 4 other bottles over US$100:
1972 Xavier Vignon Châteauneuf-du-Pape
NV Laherte Frères Petit Meslier Champagne Extra Brut
1985 Graham Porto Vintage
2010 Antinori Tignanello

Which SMWS whisky was it? They generally do fantastic work picking excellent casks.

in answer to the OP: mag of 2016 Trapet Chambertin that was too good of a deal to pass-up. I wouldn’t have bought it at its market price then or now.

Birthyear DRC La Tache, 1993 for $4,940.

Price tag makes me want to hold it for another decade, but it really ought to be opened sooner than later I feel.

I had to really think about this. Very rare I will spend over $200 on something or even $150. I think that is expensive, personally. At any rate, my most expensive bottles are some 2017 Chave Hermitage in both red and white that I bought a few years ago. My local wine shop had a few bottles. Even then I used a gift certificate lol. Think they were $350

It’s drinking well right now.

I don’t fully catch the St Barts reference- however, I was invited for 2026 to a fairly extravagant-sounding wine event that takes place there each year. So I was doing some online research about the event incl. wine berserkers and didn’t see much. If you know what I’m talking about (I don’t even know the name, I’m taking the spot of someone in a group that dropped out) and would be ok discussing further, please pm me! thanks

If it makes you feel better, then YES!

I sold the bottle I spent the most $ on about 10 years after purchasing it.

I bought a bottle of 2006 Krug for when I finish graduate school. Though I may just let it age for a little while longer

Drink or hold depending on provenance. It was a highlight among outstanding wines last month.

Put this in the wrong thread

I have spent a lot more on wine since then, but relative to income, in 1983, the most I ever spent was a bottle of Petrus 1971 at the Wauwinet restaurant in Nantucket for $275. We debated this for several minutes, as it was a huge amount at the time.

We gave the somm a taste, who then came back and asked for another for the chef, and then looked longingly at the bottle and asked for another taste. I didn’t endear myself to him when I asked if he wanted some for his mother-in-law

$6000 for a 1.5 1989 Haut Brion purchased just prior to Covid for a “blowout” birthday dinner that never got rescheduled. Second would be $900 for a bottle of Selosse Rose.

Forgot about that one

The bottle I purchased on a blind date with with the woman who became my FIRST wife.

IIRC, I’ve said this in the past on a very similar thread…

12L of Schramsberg BdB for around $1500 all in.

My first experience with Petrus was the 1971 for my wife’s birthday back in January 2006. Went to Studio in Laguna Beach and the restaurant/somm made a big deal of it, told my stories of how special the bottle is, etc. This was a big reason for my purchase of the 1989 Petrus, referenced upstream, purchased later that year.

Around $250ish for some 2004 Lopez de Heredia Tondonia Blanco Gran Reserva recently. I am young in this community and generally dont have the wallet to get into burgundy and high level bordeaux, but I have taken such a liking to these LdH blanco’s that these are almost a no brainer for me.

Before I was introduced to this wine forum… about $200 for a bottle of 2017 Corison Kronos. I used to work in the restaurant world and got to try a couple of fun things and a 2013 of this wine kicked off my interest in the world of wine. It was also the first place I went wine tasting in Napa with my now fiancee too and we bought this at the winery.

After I was introduced to this wine forum… well… the ‘special occasion’ shelf of my wine fridge has grown into a ‘special occasion’ fridge.
