Your Most Expensive Bottle Purchase

If I buy 3 allocated bottles for $X and sell one on the grey market for $X are the other two bottles free?

The $1200 bottle of 2005 G-M-G Clos Vougeot I dropped on the &#($#( floor. (Since replaced with the same thing because I’m not going to let the floor win.)

1998 Petrus on futures. IIRC, it was around $500.

~$70, per CT. I’ve gone higher on spirits twice - once on two bottles from the The Scotch Malt Whisky Society while visiting Edinburgh (as a memento) and once on some wedding-year vintage cognac from K&L.

The most expensive to me was the corked one(s) that I received no value in any way out of.

Veritable bargain although a bit of an off vintage!

For me Harlan Magnum.

Realm Hartwell XX at release. Most expensive single bottle price I’ve ever paid. Was special because I got to meet Scott and was a member of Hartwell before Realm bought it.

But what did you tip…

They always autograt at the club, unfortunately :frowning:

Wow, that must take 2-3 men to pour a glass?

Under $250 all-in for a 1946 Rivesaltes, similar for a 1951 Borgogno Barolo.

I’d be surprised if I’d bought more than 2 cases of wine over $100/bottle.

according to cellartracker? it was 399 for Ledru rosƩ
according to my heart? Every time I end up buying champagne in a US restaurant…

You were with @Robert.A.Jr in St. Baarts?

I go to the wine shop to pick up a bottle and they tell me that I have two boxes ready for pick up. I insist that I only have one bottle, but they bring up two boxes with my name on them The second box has one 750 of Krug NV. I have no recollection of it so I ask how much I owe. They tell me I already paid for it, so I respond, ā€œWow, I get a bottle if Krug for free!ā€ Am I correct?

Meh.

We really preferred the Dom…

Many years ago, some friends and I went in on a bottle of 1967 d’Yquem for $750 from Premier Cru (and, yes, it was delivered). The most I ever spent without help from friends was $475 for a magnum of 1995 Grace Family Vineyards Cabernet (which I hope to drink sometime this year, the last bottle of Grace I own).

How about this Baby Jesus? (I’m sure it’s literally impossible to buy these bottles, at least the 1865, at any price… privilege of being BurgHound.)
