I know, talking money is gauche. But since most other wine subjects have been discussed here, why not this one?
What was your most expensive bottle purchase? Name the wine, name the cost, or name both.
In my case, I am frugal and the purchases were made long ago. All three were approximately $180; 2002 Araujo Eisele Cabernet Sauvignon, 2009 Clos Lambrays and 1982 Quinta do Noval Nacional Vintage Port.
I have such a distaste for the “simpsons did it” line.
Not everyone has been on WB forever or carries an encyclopedic knowledge of past threads. However, based on some recent threads about getting younger on the forum, one needs to allow some grace for redundancy over time.
RC is the most expensive wine I’m willing to buy. It’s way overpriced, but my it was a big part of my early wine journey memories, so it holds a sentimental value.
Not only that, it becomes a different discussion each time. I don’t see the problem. But I didn’t read David’s post as an attempt to cut off discussion. The OP seemed sheepish about the topic and shouldn’t
I’ll even participate. As far as I can accurately remember, my most expensive bottle cost $599 (no sales tax or shipping) when I bought it. It was a one time opportunity that I couldn’t pass up.
I am pretty sure the most expensive bottle of wine I ever bought was a bottle of 2002 Krug, for which I had a coupon that made it somewhat more reasonable. Fortunately I bought the few 1st growths I own when they were sub-$150
I bought a few MacDs (thanks to a generous friend!) which were around $220 shipped. That’s the most I’ve ever spent on a bottle. And with three kids under teen age, likely the most I will spend for a while.
If I sell 2 bottles of wine that I bought for $50 each for $100 each and use the $200 for a new wine, did I pay $100 for the new wine or $200 for the new wine?
By a pretty good amount, a 1989 Petrus in fantastic condition back in June 2006 for $1,900. Bought it as a bucket list wine and still have it tucked away.
