Your Best Experiences in Burgundy?

I know there is a wide range of folks on WB who have visited Burgundy with wine tasting on their mind. For some, such as ITB and experienced Burg-hounds, a targeted and focused tasting of wine is probably the overwhelming priority. For others, wine tasting is a big component of their visit to the area, but it is more of a theme running through the trip, Their focus is more on setting themselves up for enjoyable experiences and memories around the wine tasting and wine discovery. Some happen by plan, some come like gifts.
What comes to mind for you?

We absolutely love long lunches at the Chef’s table at La Ferme de la Ruchotte.

Best ever experiences have been dinners at Becky Wasserman’s beautiful home (RIP).

We were in Burgundy in September 2025 and stayed here.

Absolutely awesome!

You can walk 1 minute to eat here.

Returned from Beaune Thursday. Spent 2 days touring/learning/tasting with Bill Nanson (Burgundy Report),per the recommendation of this board. Tasted well over 100 wines with Bill educating us on each. I cannot recommend Bill enough to anyone looking to visit the Beaune area. He is truly delightful, informative, witty and friendly. Bill was able to get us into 7 different wineries that we otherwise would never known of nor gotten into. Lunches at Trapet in Gevrey-Chambertin and. Le Soufflot in Meursault was icing on the cake!

Which places did you taste at?

Domaine Jean-Marc Millot, Nuits St,
. George
Dom. Ponsot, Morley St. Denis
Dom. de La Vougeraie, Premeaux
Fontaine-Gagnard, Chassagne-Montrachet
Dom. Jean Chartron, Puligny-Montrachet
Dom. Alain Chavy, Puligny-Montrachet

Bummer you missed the Vin et Hip Hop events on Tue/Wed.

We go next week and i was so bummed we were gonna miss them. So close yet so far!

I’ll be there, solo, this Wednesday through Sunday. I’ve got two days with Bill Nanson out in the vineyards and at several domaines (Niellon, Sauzet, Pierre Morey, Rion, Charlopin, Digioia Royer) and then Saturday I’ve got an appointment in the morning at Amiot Servelle. I’ll be staying in Beaune and if our paths cross somehow I’d love to meet up for a bottle or two!

Just got in to Beaune. Absolutely gorgeous views as I drove down the hill past Savigny. The colors that cover the hillside are a feast for the eyes. If anyone here wants to help me beat my jet lag let me know. I was thinking of having dinner at Maison du Colombier but I have no reservations so I’m open to meet for dinner or drinks after

Off to a good start!
Reminded me of this classic line.
As for jet lag, carry on as if it is not there. Enjoy your stay!

Andrew - Did you got to this last week?

Andrew - It looks like you gave Thumbs-up to my question re whether you went to Vin et Hip Hop this year. I don’t know what this means. If you went this year (or previously), please describe it/LMK your thoughts.

(A Paris/Burgundy-family friend whom I’m going to the Hospice de Beaune with this year offered to get me/us tix for next year, and I’m trying to give him my answer. My gut is Hell yes, given the subject & as it’s in the Clos Vougeot, but I’d like to find out more what it’s like. Does it go all night into the morning, like the Hip-Hop Ball @ Versailles? Ironically, my friend has never gone, but says it’s unmissable/he wants to go.)

Thanks in advance.

Yes, it was great. Pre-game dinner Tue and main event Wed. Everybody in Burgundy was there. Super old school vibe with performances by Smif-N-Wessun and Chali2na. It ended at midnight.

We had VIP tickets which were not cheap but well worth it. The tasting aspect was OK, but kind of a throw away, but they had great bottles for sale at cellar door prices from the likes of Dujac, M-G, A-L, Lafon, Rousseau, Dancer, and tons of others so there was plenty to drink.

Excellent Andrew, thank you. Burgundy has so many special events.

So many:

Long lunch at Ferme de la Ruchotte. One-of-a-kind place

Musique et Vin a few years ago and the accompanying Paulee dinner and other festivities were special

Tasting at DRC was surreal and likely once-in-a-lifetime

Dinners at l’Hotel de Beaune

Farmer’s market in Beaune

Biking through the vineyards is perhaps my favorite thing to do on earth

Everything sounds great but this one stood out for me. Very cool!
Thanks for posting.

I like an early morning run, from Beaune out to Pommard, depending on length on to Meursault then back through the higher Beaune vineyards.

You can bump into all sorts of people…

If a ‘run’ could be ‘a ‘bike ride’ or a up to a couple hours ‘walk’ I would be right there!

La Ferme de la Ruchotte has been mentioned more than once for a wonderful lunch experience. Do you recommend the terrasse?
