Yes, posted on CT: 1991 Noël Verset Cornas, France, Rhône, Northern Rhône, Cornas - CellarTracker

Had a few of the best wines, this year, on the last day of the year. So the final top twelve (because none of these could be left out) in no particular order.

Bartolo Mascarello, Barolo, 2005.
Elio Sandri, Barolo Riserva, 2012.
Overnoy, Savagnin, 1999.
Ulysse Collin, Les Pierriéres, Base 2016.
Roses de Jeanne, Val Vilaine, 2008.
Labet, En Chalasse, 2018.
Domaine Ganevat, Les Chamois du Paradis, 2012.
Domaine Ganevat, Les Devoilés, 2012.
Vogüé, Les Amoureuses, 2006.
Vogüé, Musigny, 2011.
Mugnier, Chambolle-Musigny, 2009.
Wasenhaus, Bellen, 2019.

A lot of good bottles being left out here that might have been more or less as good. But these were the standouts at the top of my head. Also the first time there are a few wines from Burgundy and no Northern Rhone on the list.

This years new obsession:

Cascina Fontana. The 2019 Barolo is one of the best young Barolo’s I’ve had.

Not too much info out there, but there is this: https://www.oathillmine.com/

I acquired it through this wine club: https://www.wildvinenapa.com/wineclub

I had the 2016 and found it to be a well-structured wine featuring some lovely Cabernet fruit.

My Red and overall WOTY: 1948 Murrieta Ygay Rioja Reserva
Not the “best” of the year, objectively the '87 Rousseau Beze, '83 or '85 Mouton, '85 or 89 La Mission, '78 Remoissenet Beze and several other wines might be better, but none took me for a better ride and its the one I’ll remember the longest.

Best of the other “types”.
White: 1975 Berncasteler Doctor Riesling auslese
Sparkling: 1996 Dom Perignon
Dessert: 1983 Yquem

Discovery: 2012 Suertes del Marqués Valle de la Orotava El Ciruelo - Just a great aged wine from an area that I didnt know very well.

Can you tell me about the 78 Remoissenet, it is y anniversary year. Thanks

It was the 78 Remoissenet Chambertin Clos de Beze. It was in a brilliant place, fully mature, complex, deep. At the particular dinner that I had it, I preferred it over a '93 Ponsot Clos de la Roche and a '90 DRC Richebourg. I’ve had several great '78 burgs over the years and I generally try to buy any I can find, even at the village and 1er level. However, I really like old wine, so take it with a grain of salt.

Thanks for the kind reply. I have one bottle of that exact wine. I hope mone is as good as yours.

Happy New Year All. Thanks for the thread Mike. Good to reflect back on the year.

Here are the ones that made the podium for me:

Gold Medal
2013 Ultramarine Blanc de Noirs Heintz Vineyard Sonoma Coast
I gravitate more to the BdN due to the complexity and mouthfeel. This one combined the elegance with some unique flavors

Silver
2017 Keller Estate Chardonnay Peninsula Proprietor’s Blend La Cruz Vineyard Sonoma Coast
This has been a repeat BD buy for me and has had me hooked for a while

2009 Fontodi Flaccianello Della Pieve Colli Della Toscana Centrale IGT
A big wine. Hits the hedonistic need you need every now and then.

2016 Liquid Farm Chardonnay Golden Slope Sta. Rita Hills

2021 Extradimensionsal Wine Co. Yeah! Summer Salters Rose Shake Ridge Ranch Amador County

2012 Ultramarine Blanc de Blancs Heintz Vineyard Sonoma Coast

Bronze
2014 Patricia Green Cellars Pinot Noir Berserkers Cuvée Willamette Valley

2019 Metrick Albariño C5 Vineyard Los Olivos District

2009 Match Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon Butterdragon Hill St. Helena

2016 Boheme Wines Chardonnay English Hill Vineyard Sonoma Coast

2017 Harrington Mission Somers Vineyard Lodi
A real discovery. Unique and geeky in a good way

1998 Domaine des Baumard Quarts de Chaume Grand Cru

2019 Jean Edwards Cellars Sauvignon Blanc Dalla Gasperina Vineyard Rutherford

2021 Stars and Dust Crowded Table Rose Blend Santa Ynez Valley

2016 Robert Mondavi Winery Fume Blanc Reserve To-Kalon Vineyard Napa Valley

2002 Romano dal Forno Valpolicella Superiore Vigneto di Monte Lodoletta

2010 La Lecciaia di Pacini Mauro Brunello di Montalcino Riserva

2011 Jean Edwards Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon Stagecoach Vineyard Napa Valley

Do tell! Worth getting?

That was our favorite rosé this year in a surprisingly crowded field.

Some nice bottles this year. Top of the pile were:

Sparkling:
Krug 1937 (despite a low level)
Ulysse Colin Maillons 08 base (perfectly poised)

White:
Keller Schubertslay Alte Reben 2018 (stunning concentration)
Raveneau Clos 2018 (drinking perfectly now)
Leflaive CM and BBM 1992 (side by side)

Reds:
1991 La Tache (amazing despite crappy glasses)
1899 Leovlle Barton and Las Cases (side by side)

Discovery (or rather rediscovery): Laurent Tribut, whose wines I used to love but slipped off my radar for years - bot sure why but great to catch up on (and buy a lot of) these wines again!

I drank it as part of a pairing at a restaurant so only had 1 glass but the wine was already approachable which suprised me given its age. Loads of cherries with a great structure but nothing overwhelming. Such an elegant wine! I’ll get a case of the 18 once they release it over here as I think the 17 have sold out.

Cheers to the '95 Cabassaou
