Good call on Godello. The undiscovered White Burgundy of Spain ![]()
The good ones can be outstanding, not to mention downright cheap.

The Raul Perez wine Jay shared with us last night was outstanding.
You had me looking that one up as soon as I read your post!
White: 2005 Lopez de Heredia Tondonia
Red: 1996 Calon Segur
Sparkling: Selosse Les Carelles (2017 disgorgement)
Main discovery this year has been that old Bordeaux is great (and for high-end wine can be great value) and I think I like white burgundy more than red burgundy given I have had pretty good luck avoiding premox.
First year drinking wine in a serious way - can I say ‘everything’? Hopefully many more years to come and I can see how my tastes change over time. Nevertheless I’ll take a stab:

Got a winner last night, my top rating of the year on what should be a mediocre coop bottle…what a treat
2004 Chassenay d’Arce Blanc de Blancs
Andy do you have any notes on the1991 Verset Cornas. I an planning on drinking one in January for my anniversary, Thanks for your input
1994 Weinbach Gewürztraminer Altenbourg Cuvee Laurence. Supposedly declassified SGN and it sures tastes like it with lots of botrytis notes and now all the tertiary nuances of 29 years. Still alive enough for me and very special though I wouldn’t argue with someone who would prefer it younger.
1988 E. Guigal Côte-Rôtie La Mouline
Discovery of the Year: I know I’m very late to the party, but I had my first Egly-Ouriet and I totally get the hype.
