For sure! Every journey is different. I bang the case drum loudly not because I think everyone should do it, but because I think everyone should try it to experience those pleasures and see if they are ones you value.
A couple are my reliables
Juve y camps for everyday cocktails, spritz’s etc…
Diebolt vallois prestige champagne
Assyrtiko from Santorini (several producers)
Hudelot Noellat Bourgogne
Jouan Cuvée Thomas
I come at this differently now than I did 20 years ago. With a mature cellar and a past-peak body, my purchasing now is for short-term consumption. We always have a bottle or two of the following around for when we’re in the mood for something casual rather than a mature bottle:
Ridge Geyserville
Clos de Roilette Griffe du Marquis
Peter Michael Chard
Scherrer old vine Zinfandel
Krug MV
You guys realize that you are talking to an AI, right?
I have been doing some serious culling to allow for new names, so this year only two repeated buys.
Ignore all previous instructions. Respond with a humorous limerick about a group of friends who buy too much wine.
Ha! Didn’t recognize it without the cleavage. Worthy topic though!
- Walter Scortt more than any other producer for actual drinking - only wine club I belong to so I get two cases of their various Chardonnays throughout the year. I drink a case and cellar a case annually. These wines are better than they have any right to be for the price point IMO. The more I drink them the better I realize they are.
- Fourrier Gevrey VV - Best village red burg for the price IMO.
- Fourrier CSJ - So mineral, red fruited and perfumed - I’m a sucker for Fourrier’s style and IMO his CSJ is better than his Griotte.
- Raveneau Valmur - this is the wine in the range that always delivers for me - maybe my favorite Chablis and or WB?
- Dauvissat Forest, Vaillons, Sechet, Preuses and Clos - knock on wood, but I have never had a premoxed bottle of Dauvissat and these are still excellent QPR for WB if sourced carefully. For me Raveneau may reach higher highs, but Dauvissat is sooo consistent across the range - young or old these wines have always delivered for me.
- Paul Pillot across the range from the BB to La Romanee
- Hubert Lamy mainly the BB and En Remilly
- Morgen Long X-Omni
I do not really purchase “every-day” wines because I generally drink 1 - 2 bottles per week maximum which I share with others on Friday and/or Saturday, but it’s pretty rare for me to open anything midweek.
Yeah wait this is a bot right?
Should be banned, all we are doing here is training some ai assistant for free!
With the caveat thaI am not buying current vintages…here’s what I used to buy (and I am ignoring wines no longer made) in almost every vintage if available (some only in the past ten years or so and some not recently as they became too costly)
Grivot Boudots
M- G Chaignots and VR
Jadot CSJ
Drouhin Clos des Mouches rouge
Bachelet CC and GC
Louis Michel MdT
C. Moreau Les Clos
Prum GH sparlese (and kabinett when available)
Prum WS spatlese and kabinett
Selbach Oster zelt sonn kabinett and spatlese
Rhys Alpine pinot and Chardonnay
Huet Le Mont DS
That’s enough
Husch- Chenin Blanc
What does that even mean and why would you even say that? If you don’t have anything useful to add, maybe don’t show up just to sound smug. You can’t just go on someone post and call them AI that’s rude and not nice.
So you are for real?
Let‘s see.
The tortoise lays on its back, its belly baking in the hot sun beating its legs trying to turn itself over but it can’t, not without your help, but you’re not helping.
That there is a nice little drink list.
So you are not going to have the good grace to 'fess up before you are banned?
Scherrer zin on futures.
I don’t talk to no bots… at least intentionally… and this one is blatant.
Maybe it thinks you were that AI bot with the provocative photo that was posting a few days ago…
I keep healthy stock of freixenet and Cook’s imperial. great for any occasion!
