Wine from a private collection

Yesterday I received an email concerning a sale of a private cellar from one of my friends in town. He has a client who is moving to France and is trying to reduce or eliminate his cellar before the move. He’s moving in a month so he wants to sell them outside of auction. Let me know which of these wines you are interested in via PM and I will go to them with a price. I might group them together into one email in the hopes that the pricing will be better.

I don’t know what kind of pricing he is looking for yet, but I did email in advance to see if I could get some sort of idea.

got some interest in some bottles so let us know the prices.

Wow, with a couple of exceptions, I’ve never seen a cellar so custom-tailored for a certain William T. Landreth.

Is this a fire sale? [beg.gif]

It’s sort of a ‘Greatest Hits of the last 5 Years’ type of cellar…

I haven’t heard back on what kind of pricing he’s willing to do, but I do know the email was sent out to quite a few folks.

Todd, please give my email to him.
I am interested in:
Robert Mondavi 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley Reserve
whatever he has…
oh yeah, and a price.

How about following Mike’s example - put here what you want to lay claim to, and I’ll put it into one email for them.

04 mondavi as well
04 maiden
both 06 seasmoke’s

Would love to try an 89 Montrose but I’m sure its well out of my budget.

After the last two days you should put ‘Enabler’ instead of Administrator as your title Frenchie. [wow.gif]

89 Montrose Cris? For sure, I thought you’d go for this one:

I’m sure Todd can get you a FAB price on it. [rofl.gif]

Just drink one of Phil’s - I think he bought 4 cases of it from the auction yesterday

I’m the guy who sent out the original email. I’m trying to get him to give me an idea of pricing. He told me yesterday that he’s just trying to thin the herd a bit before shipping/storing. I know what’s in his cellar and there’s a lot that he didn’t list (uber-expensive stuff.) I’m basically putting a big list together and then find out how much for all of it. (Probably take my whole damn day.) Let Todd know what you are looking for and he’ll compile the list from Wine Berserkers. I own a store, so that makes it relatively easy and cost effective to send.

FYI, he’s planning on auctioning a lot of:
1x Latour 05 6L
12x Latour 05 750ml
1x Mouton 05 6L
12x Mouton 05 750ml

All are OWC and I’m the one who originally sold them to him a year ago so I know the provenance is good. He’s looking for $50k for the lot. I have one guy who’s thinking about it, but first come…

Probably not a ton. He just started going big a couple years ago. He does a dinner party once a month when he’s in the states and I think he keeps most of the older stuff for those. He’s keeping his US house, but he picked up an estate with some AOC vineyard in Provence that he wants to use for his primary cellar. (Must be rough…) So he’s trying to avoid air freight for the bulk of the stuff he’s storing for a while.

Unless his Bordeaux are seriously discounted, I am interested in his pricing for the Italians.

I already have many of these wines in my cellar but I would consider a few more if the price was right. Since he has the 89 Montrose, does he have any HB or LMHB?

Hey, Le Gay is one of my favorite Bordeaux estates. They rock. Especially if you like Cab FRanc. Since I may never get my futures form PC, I’d be willing to buy his if he’d let’em go for a good price.

I’ll ask him, but I think he would have said so if he wanted to move them. Are you in SoCal? I keep my juice at a place in Irvine and we’re going to do a 20 year Bordeaux reunion with members and invitees. All '89s and both of those will be poured. We haven’t finalized yet, but it’ll be about 10 wines, $200ish, and all quality bottles. Sorry, no Petrus, that would have made it $400…

Paul, I think I might have met you at Legend Cellars during the B Cellars tasting. Were you there? I was the one on the patio with the dog (see avatar).

I bought 4 bottles of the 89 Montrose yesterday. [wow.gif] [drinkers.gif]
