Edelzwicker is always a cuvee. There might be some Riesling in it as well.

A souvenir from a recent trip to Strassbourg: very prounced petroleum with a delicate layer of quince below the surface. It lost
some of its character on the second day.

2021 Selbach Incline Dry Riesling. Great little budget friendly “dry” Mosel. And when I say “dry” I mean it in the Riesling definition, not in the true definition.
Alzinger - Steinertal Riesling Smaragd 2023
Light straw yellow color. Peach, apricot, citrus, herbs, white flowers, mineralic. Fresh and salty, medium+ body, nice tension, balanced and long lasting. Young with great potential

Found this the other day and thought it would be nice to bring home for Christmas.
Totally delicious, leaner than you’d expect. Very pretty. Long finish. Nice golden color, stone fruit. Awesome.

Peter Lauer - Grande Réserve Riesling Brut Natur 1984
Little but fine Perlage, intense and complex. Herbs, mint, black tea, resin, ripe citrus, tertiary notes, yellow dried flowers, mineralic. Fresh and salty, medium+ body, balanced and long lasting. Impressive 40 year old Riesling Sekt

VDP Gutswein, bottled for a local wine merchant. Cristal clear acidity with some stone fruits and everything I expect from a simple, well made, dry Riesling. Good value at ~USD 15.

2022 Carl Loewen Longuicher Maximin Herrenberg Riesling Kabinett - Germany, Mosel Saar Ruwer (10/7/2024)
– uncorked approx. 30 min. before initial taste –
– tasted non-blind over 2 hrs. –
NOSE: leaning reticent; gooseberries; hints of bloomy rind cheese and cream cheese frosting.
BODY: full bodied; light green-yellow color; Diam10 closure.
TASTE: Kabinett+ sense of sweetness; more up-front mineral than is usual for this bottling; medium to medium+ acidity; 9% alc. not noticeable; typical Herrenberg fruit profile — for whatever reason, I’m finding some overlap with JJ Prum’s W.S. today. Very nice wine, and at $23 it’s nice to see its price hasn’t ballooned like so many other Kabinetts recently have.

This isn’t the best wine I’ve had this year, but considering the availability and the cost, it might be a WOTY candidate. A lot of wine for the money.
It’s a worthy buy, for sure. The 2015 vintage of this bottling remains in my Top 5 Kabinett ever, and I’ve never purchased more of any wine in any vintage than I did that one.

The Kabinett is from Longuicher Herrenberg. (Longuicher Maximiner Herrenberg is a different vineyard site.)

Dönnhoff - Dellchen GG 2022
Light straw yellow with greenish hues. Citrus, apple, herbs, peach, white flowers, mineralic. Fresh and salty, medium+ body, balanced and long lasting. Young GG with potential.

You’re welcome, Brian. Herrenberg is the higher and steeper part of the hillside. Maximiner Herrenberg is the lower section.

It is very special indeed maybe they have some at the winery directly? I saw that they raised prices significantly for the later degorgements and Suckling talked about it in one of the recent Germany reports so i guess there could be availability. Good hunting 
2001 JJ Prüm Wehlener Sonnenuhr Spätlese AP 27
TN: Very pretty fresh nose of peach, pear and honey. Palate remarkably has a little fizz still, then eases into a rich honeyed pear/peach fruit salad. Love the depth and richness. Some ginger spices the tart finish, good length and tart. 2001 balance. Just a gorgeous Spätlese. 93
Commentary - first of a recent purchase of some Prüm 2001s. I had the AP15 a few years ago and (memory and CT notes vaguely useful) they seemed pretty similar. The 15 was maybe a bit crunchier and better balanced, the 27 a little fresher.
But really had me wondering why Prum bottled at least 7 different Spätlesen from this one vineyard in 2001. Ok, sure, the main release (15) and a goldkap, and an auction wine. But 4 or 5 more? Curious.
