The '09 Carlisle’s are fantastic. Had a glass of the '09 Montafi on Sunday. Excellent. Great balance of fruit and acid, with a plush texture. I am glad to have aged a few of these!
Checked my stash of '09 at home, not counting the offsite and I’m glad to have plenty left. As for TA I haven’t popped anything younger than '06 for some silly reason.
2013 Carlisle Zinfandel Dupratt Vineyard - just couldn’t wait. Note from CT:
Opened one up on Sunday and filled a half bottle for later. Drank the half bottle on Wednesday and it was even better! The mineral component really came out to the forefront and worked with the dark fruit and brown spice.
Needed something really good last night, and the 2008 Carlisle Vineyard Zinfandel did not disappoint. Great balance, probably at its peak (the drink chart says drink through 2016); if I had any more I would drink them this year.
2011 Carlisle Zinfandel Sonoma County - opened this for some friends that usually drink cocktails and are not into wine at all. Needless to say, they loved it. Still quite youthful. Can’t think of a better value at $19.
Opened a 2011 Carlisle Zinfandel Papera Ranch last night. Absolutely delicious. Still youthful, but I bought a lot of them and wanted to try one relatively early.
'14 Sonoma County Zin. Was surprised to see that these and the Sonoma Syrah were under screwcap, don’t recall them being that way last year. That’s fine though, because these don’t last a year in my house anyway. This is fresh and fruit forward, dark fruited and with spice to the finish (maybe from the PS?). It’s refreshing to get so much depth of fruit without the wine taking on too much weight. Not a complex wine but it’s absolutely delicious and an awesome value as always.
