A friend has asked me to advise her where she can tell a colleague to shop for organic, biodynamic or “natural” wine in Paris. Suggestions greatly appreciated.
La Dernière Goutte
Caves Augé
Bacchus and Arianne
Bacchus et Ariane are mostly classic wines, i.e. not organic/bio/nat.
La Verre Vole in rue Oberkampf has many choices of bio/organic/natural.
Thnk. Now she also wants to know where to shop for good burgundies too.
Now, I can recommend Bacchus et Ariane in SGdP Market. Small selection, carefully curated.
Derniere Goutte +500000000
Really cool shop with a wine bar and restaurant around the corner. Hell they even speak American there!
+1 for La Derniere Goutte
Would recommend Ambassade des Bourgogne in the 6th. Nice selection of burg - usually keep their current list updated on the web site. Also have a number of things available by glass.
For natural/bio/organic, there’s a good little shop on the Ile Saint-Louis called l’Etiquette that specializes in them: https://letiquetteparis.fr/en/home/
Hard to think of anywhere better than La Dernière Goutte and Bacchus et Arianne, but last time I was in Paris I also stopped in to Les Caprices de l’Instant near Place de la Bastille and also found some interesting bottles.
Redirecting... friend Lionel’s shop in the 5th. His selection is pretty expansive and well priced. Tell him I sent you.
All good ideas to which I’ll add one of my own:
Les Caves du Panthéon
174 Rue Saint-Jacques, 75005 Paris
It’s right next to the Panthéon and my university, the law faculty. The nearest Métro/RER is Luxembourg. They have a great selection of organic, biodynamic and natural wines plus a decent selection of Burgundies. I’ve never tried but I’m pretty sure they speak English.
Derniere Goutte, et Septime La Cave !
Crus et Decouvertes
I can confirm they do!
This splendidly named gentleman has the right idea.
Thanks, everyone. I have passed along your suggestions.
No con, I promise!
Recommend Les Caprices de l’Instant as well
Came here to say this!
I’m not a big fan of “natural” wines so I won’t comment on some suggestions above, but for mature Bourgogne I would definitely go there.
I bought a Chambolle 1er Cru Les Sentiers 2009 from Domaine Arlaud recently that’s drinking great at the moment (95€). Went back to get another one and considering buying some more.
They have a Chablis 1er cru 2010 (can’t remember the producer…) for 28€ that’s also very good.
PM if you want their list.
+1 also for Bacchus et Arianne, one of my regular wine shops in Paris. They currently have a bunch of Huber Lignier 2012/13/14 available, and also a Morey Saint Denis “Trilogie” 2016 at 62€ that I will indulge in before the end of the year

My personal favorite small wine shop in Paris (where I live) is La New Cave (https://www.lanewcave.fr/), which is right up the street from La Madeleine. Personally I dislike wine shops (and restaurants) that sell exclusively organic, biodynamic or (especially) “natural” wine, as they are too often more about the dogma than the wine. Whereas a shop like La New Cave has plenty of wines in that spectrum (e.g. I have bought Overnoy and Yann Bertrand there) but they are not rigid about their offerings – the wine just has to be good. (That said, the Bertrand Fleurie Cuvée de Chaos I bought there was an unpalatable brett bomb.)
Although browsing wine shops is fun of course, if your friend has specific wines in mind she might want to order online for delivery to her hotel. France is relatively small and all roads lead to Paris, so a case of wine can usually be shipped overnight or for two-day delivery for €10-20, or in many (not all shops) even free for orders above a certain threshold (typically €200-250). Mes Vendanges (https://www.mesvendanges.com/fr/) is one store I can recommend but there are plenty of others. For Burgundies there are also tons of options; I like Grand Bourgognes (Grands Bourgognes - Achat de vins de Bourgogne en ligne) which will probably be running a one-day 15% off sale in the next few days and of course there is the giant Idealwine (iDealwine - Le site pour acheter, vendre et estimer vos vins).
