2021 Go Rick! Red. A baby but really quite accessible now, surprisingly so.

From my CT Review:

<1/2 hour decant. My first EWCY! experience. Had no idea what to expect. Very pronounced strawberry on the nose. Extreme freshness and great lift - this is like being 20 years old again. Exuberance also means less depth: like life itself, you can’t have both at the same time. But you feel the winemaker’s choice and I love it.

(And for precision’s sake, allow me to distinguish between complexity and depth. There is an astonishing complexity to this wine, lots of pyrotechnic sensations. But there is a difference between complexity and depth, as there is a tension between exuberance and joy, understood only later in life. An artist must choose, and a choice has been made here. I don’t criticize the choice, I admire and recognize it.)

A comparison: one of my favorite singers is Elizabeth Fraser. Her voice is unique, ethereal and haunting. It is not the technical equivalent of a great operatic voice like, say, Renee Fleming or Kiri te Kanawa. But they are voices I admire, whereas my angel Liz has a voice you fall in love with. So it is with my first Extradimensional wine, tonight up against a Chateau Lafleur and a Vice Versa Spinning Plates: it’s the wine you decide to love.

Bottom line: I am fricken delighted to have a flight of EWCY! Wines and look forward to a wild ride on all of them!
Score: 93. Relative to expectations: +++ yeah!

Banger!

Huge News- We’ve got the keys to what will become the @winecoyeah tasting room right off of Sonoma Plaza! We can’t wait to transform this room into our Extradimensional space. We anticipate an early fall opening. More info about the space in this weeks “Peak of the Week” (link in bio)

Great news for sure! During our pickup Sunday Hardy mentioned this. Could be a nice catalyst for the brand!
For anyone planning to visit, a tasting at Bedrock and Extradimensional Wine Co with either lunch or dinner at Valley a fantastic newish restaurant and bottle shop makes for a wonderful day in the town of Sonoma.

Thanks, Dennis! Kate and I are psyched.

Thank you, Tom. A day spent tasting at Extradimensional, Bedrock, Darling, Winery Sixteen600 and then lunch or dinner at Valley Bar & Bottle would be awesome and also require zero driving.

Timing:
Fortunately, we only have to do interior design (no construction). With lead times for things like upholstery and furniture, we are hoping to have the tasting room up and running sometime in Sept.

Kate, Jill, and I look forward to seeing everyone.

Had the 2022 Summer Salters Rosé. Was very excited to try and it did not disappoint. Review below from CT

Double decant and very slight chill. Yes, the initial scents (while decanting) are very reminiscent of Bandol rosé. But this goes into Bandol in the Sky with Diamonds after enough air. Fresh strawberries at first (and yeah I am going to say this smelled of fresh strawberries, not the monster mausoleum of fruit at the supermarket) that turns into watermelon. Tea (bergamot) - just enough to be interesting rather than overbearing. A very faint crushed pebble sense. I am making this wine sound rather psychedelic but it’s really a lot more restrained than that. The acidity is in check, and the tastes while multifaceted are like pastels or watercolors.

My wife says after one sip “you know, [her friend X] would love this”. Um, we only have one other bottle. Guess I will have to restock before sold out ….

Serendipity strikes: The handy EWCY! notes suggest this wine would go well with bbq chicken. I respectfully disagree: this wine is simply too delicate and frankly just too pretty to match with as strong a taste as bbq. But as luck would have it, as we were enjoying this at our table outside on a very warm NJ late afternoon, our neighbor fires up his charcoal and wood grill. Soon we get wafts of burnt wood and what must be his mother’s home cooked Chinese food drifting over to us. That combination of Summer Salters, a wood fire and vicarious Southern Chinese spices was divine!

Score: 92. Relative to expectations: ++

Opened the 2021 Nightlight Red earlier this week and drank over the course of 4 days. No notes, but day 3/4 was when the wine was truly singing for every sip.

Just opened a Go Rick Red. Listening to Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, and smiling, which I have not done much lately.

Thanks @David_Bu3ker ! I’m happy that brought you some cheer! (Sounds like a great wine / music pairing for that one)

Nice bloom, very lush. Do you deadhead your flowers?

I’ll take your recommendation and give a Go Rick a try this weekend.

2021 Summer Salters Rose
This one has a delicious factor off the charts.

Epitome of a YEAH! Wine. Fun and serious at the same time. Serious juice but can be a huge hit for a crowd too

Grenache last night with my brisket off the BGE. Andrew’s note above and David’s note capture it well. Light colored- almost a dark rose, served cool, was a nice match with peppery bark of the brisket. Yum.

I saw this in EE and thought that would be a good pairing, but…I also thought the cow that that brisket came off was morbidly obese-thickest brisket I’ve ever seen.

It was a biggie. I trimmed a good bit of fat off the point too. From a local butcher at Pine Street Market here in town. Started at 12lbs.
