Had this over the weekend and completely agree with your note (although stated much more eloquently then I could). Was such a pleasurable wine was constantly torn between wanting to continue to just take in the nose versus gulp it down. So alive.
Greetings everyone- Thank you all for the beautiful words on the wines the last few weeks. Your notes are moving, inspiring, and remind us that people âget itâ.

Thank you!
True unicorn alert. Thanks @David.Berman for bringing the EWCY 42. More than held its own amongst this crowd.
Perhaps you can remind me the blend. Sadly at the point in time I took the pic I was no longer in a state where I could remember to clean by camera lens.
I loved the So Good! skin fermented Chenin from 2021 tonight
Evangelho Mourvedre 41.25%
Evangelho Carignan 30%
Rocca Mourvedre 28.75%
42
It couldnât have been labeled as Mourvèdre since it wasnât 75%. We couldnât do an AVA either since it wasnât 85% (owing to Rocca being Amador County I believe). Nevertheless, this was the perfection blend we came up with and those names are meaningless next to characteristics of what is a great wine thanks to a number of factor, not least Hardy and Kate being amazing people.
@H_Wallace_Jr
Hardy, Iâm embarrassed to ask and maybe I learned this back then, but can you talk a little about the Rocca Mourvèdre vineyard?
Rocca is in the Shenandoah Valley located on Ostrom Rd. (behind Sobon)
The Mourvèdre is head trained on volcanic soils at about 1900ft. The fruit has a darker (purple / black) profile vs Shake Ridgeâs more red/purple vibe.
Iâm so happy to see this in the wild!

⢠2022 Old vines Carignane.
I am developing the habit of having all my XWCY reds (except for some of the Mourvèdres) in Zalto Bdx glasses. The Zaltos just seem to bring out the best in them. This was no exception: we just loved this simultaneously calming and uplifting, Pat Metheny kind of wine.
From CT review:
Another hit from EWCY! 1 hr decant. Missing the spritz from last yearâs bottle. Very sweet raspberry balanced with cranberry and orange zest. Something like dried stalks and fennel seed in the back. Light for a Mazuelo/carignan. great by itself but also went gangbusters w homemade meatballs and a light marinara sauce. Disappeared quickly.
So just gotta be honest. Opened a Mountain Echoes Orange tonight, and it doesnât do anything for me. I keep trying Hardyâs orange wines, and like everyone elseâs they leave me asking âwhy bother.â
Sox won though, hope you have a case
Cases of other Yeah! wines, so all set!
Do you like the Marianaâs Sunset Skin-Contact Chardonnay? Iâve found that the lighter, hazy-style skin-contact whites tend to turn out better than the full orange wines, and they pair perfectly with just about any meal.
Havenât had it. I have decided to actively avoid skin contact whites.
What the blazensâŚneed that cup.
Bought them a few years ago. They are perfect for afternoons/evenings by the lake!
2022 Partial Eclipse
Tasty, open, cheerful, exuberant. Bright red and purple fruit, rose inflected florals, and a spice tray. Zingy acid, not much tannin, palate impact is not too far off from good Cru Beaujolais but filtered through California old vine flavors. Weird blend of Shake Ridge Mourvèdre and Primitivo with some Mendocino old vine field blend stalwarts (Zin, carignan, petit Sirah). As usual delicious even if I donât totally know what to make of it (which isnât a problem, but if itâs a problem is a âme problem.â)
Had two bottles of YEAH! during our week in Downeast Maine. The Full King Crab III was all it should be, and disappeared in minutes as the four of us had a chilled lobster and lemon appetizer outdoors by the lake (on a 75 degree day in October!).
Sadly the Summer Salters III was not what it should be. Smelled spoiled, but not heat or TCA spoiled. Almost bacterial. Weird and wholly unexpected.
