A buddy of mine brought this wine to dinner last night, but there is no vintage on the label. It came from his dad’s cellar, and he thinks it could be 60’s or 70’s. Check out the price - a little over $9. Can anyone tell from the labels what the vintage would be? The wine was drinking great.
Yep that feels about right…but it could be closer to the early 80’s as well. My bottles of 1980 look exactly the same i believe, but I’ll take a closer look when i get back in town tomorrow
You might look on the bottom of the btl. Often there is a date stamped when the btl was manufactured.
Subtract 2 yrs would give an approximate vintage.
I may be going out on a limb here, uh no, but I don’t think they changed alcohol levels on the label mid stream mid-vintage. All the labels after ‘72 read 13% or higher. The label in the OP reads 12.5%.
I know someone mentioned it upthread, but I thought it was a 1968 only because I have such a magnificent memory of that vintage, and the label/bottle looks so much like what (I think) I remember. I seem to remember the neck label on the bottle I had was cellophane taped on, afterwards.
