What rose are you drinking?

A Tribute to Grace

I’m not familar with this one. The cellartracker notes suggest it is very complex. It also seems to be $150 minimum in the US with very little available. Is this like Tondonia rosato that generally gets a huge price increase in the US?

Edit - nice list with the rest of them, all great Rose.

In the cheap seats,a couple of favourites of ours over the last couple of vintages:

Torre Dei Beati Cerasuolo d’Abruzzo Rosa’ae
(the 2023 seems fairly widely available in the USA for ~US$20

And also this one:
San Giusto a Rentennano Fuori Misura Rosato Toscana IGT
Although that doesn’t seem to make it to the USA.

Also from the cheap seats in Italy, Ercole Rosato Piedmonte DOC is pretty respectable for being around $15 in a 1L.

This is a stunner! @Jamie_Kutch nailed it. Elegant, yet structured with perfect balance.

2023 Blackbird Vineyards Arriviste

35% Merlot, 35% Cabernet Sauvignon and 30% Cabernet Franc from a former walnut orchard planted to vines in 2003. Screw cap. I found this to be on the lighter side and not overly fruity. Notes of strawberry and citrus. Solid acidity. 86 points.

What’s the price point on that one?

Cheers

Something different: Hugo Vercasson, a new name on the Saint Joseph block.
Rosa 2023, VdF, Syrah + Cinsault

Still a bit unsettled, with some fizz (the same goes for their Syrah). Fragrant and fruity, with some earthy notes. Crispy and animating.

A civilized lunch: gyro and Brana.

2024 Sandlands Kirschenbloom Lodi Kirshenmann Vineyard - USA, California, Central Valley, Lodi (5/8/2025)
Cerasuolo d’Lodi! 68% Zin, 32% Cinsault…deep red cherry color ala Cerasuolo or Tavel…pretty substantial ripe and crunchy wild redberry fruits…raspberry/strawberry/crancherry…crunchy youth, with a bright snap of sour skin acidity. Pretty good balance and very structured for a “Rose”…does show the slightest of alc bite, but doesn’t distract. More like Tiberio…but there is a wonderful vineyard funk earthiness ala Pepe showing…herbs, slight tar, cinnamon, white pepper spice…love the dryness of the red licorice…salted crushed minerality…florals…chill and drink it poolside…FANTASTIC effort! Make more Tegan! (93 points)

There is such a thing as a “Serious Rose’” Serious mineral core wrapped by a playful acidity. Limpid and luminous. Unpretentious and precise. Fitting for a Spring evening watching children play or a Nobel Prize dinner.

Reminds me of Richard Feynman, who would be 107 on Mother’s Day! Serious, yet playful. Joy and genius. Ideas, lingering long after the glass is empty.

I raise a glass to you, dear Feynman.
Here’s to wonder and delight.

Pop’d one off the truck today (well after chilling it). Enjoying it. Will be really refreshing on hot summer days.

Where might one find this?Sounds interesting!

It was offered to mailing list customers about two weeks ago. Shipping started May 5th, so I guess he’s just one of the lucky ones to get theirs so quickly!

2020 Amorotti Cerasuolo D’Abruzzo - I forgot to take a photo, but this was lovely with pizza last night. Lots of blood orange and a bitter orange peel/pith note that was very refreshing.

The weather finally turned in Los Angeles, so grilling and rose were in order. This bottle went quickly, it was so good.

Not Charles, but I still have some 2019 and 2021, and I am in no hurry. Had a 2018 a few weeks ago that was delicious and had time in hand.
