They are having an open house Memorial Day weekend. Barrel samples. If you are in the area
Don’t know if they’re doing it for this event but Jim lets Beaux Freres use his property below his “whiskey tasting room” / man cave to keep their hogs. Jim gets a some of that action.
That has to be an off the hook crazy party with the whole hog.
It’s not. But in need to talk to Mikey about collecting the rent for 2025!
I felt lucky to just get a small pour during the sunday barrel sample party. great stuff
We poured the 4 bottles of 2018 I had left on the afternoon event.
it was great, and the generosity was not overlooked by the people who attended.
sounds like a smart move for a BerserkerFest, if I might be so bold…the property there is certainly large enough!
Not P Green but figured it counts. Still going but fruit has faded a bit. Nice acid backbone. Fun bottle.
I’ll take it. In bottle for 27 years and made in seriously primitive conditions and yet still hanging. Not bad.
My wife and I started our tasting day at Patricia Green. The service was impeccable and the wines satiating. Surprisingly, the highlight wasn’t the 2014 Perspicacious (which I found fascinating) but rather the 2024 futures that promised great things to come.
Was treated to an old high school classmate and her husband dropping in for dinner tonight (they live in North Carolina and are traveling across country). So treated them to a PGC Corrine Wadensvil 2021 and an Estate Bonshaw 2006 (which I am finishing off to end the evening). Was going to serve a 2013 Olenik I had picked up on Winebid but, sadly, it was corked, so backup was the Bonshaw. Wanted them to be able to experience some young and old PGC, together. Both the Corrine and the Bonshaw were wonderful. Roasted pork, sautéed squash and Caesar salad to accompany the great company and great wine!
Got home from some time with the new granddaughter and decided to check in on what so far, to me, has been the most fruit-forward of the PGC 2022s, the Volcanic blend, from vineyards in the Dundee Hills (Anderson Family, Balcombe, Durant, Weber and Mysterious Vineyards). PnP (I don’t usually do that, and instead typically give these 2022s a bit of air). Really easy drinking right now and totally open for business and pleasure. I think I had my first bottle of the 2022 Volcanic back around Thanksgiving (side-by-side with two other PGC 2022s) and it was really fruit-forward back then, at least next to the other two bottles, and a little rougher around the edges back then - these six months have been good to this wine. Really nice spice on the nose, to go with the fruit.
Other than the Reserve bottling the Volcanic will always be the most fruit forward wine we have. It’s a Dundee Hills cuvée so it has ample amounts of red fruit and silky tannins. Our bottling is basically all from 25-40 year old vines so there’s an extra level and plenty of infrastructure in it but it still possesses a wealth of fruit.
Anybody else order any whiskey? I grabbed two bottles of one of the bottlings. Tried to get the other two but they wouldn’t process. Maybe not shippable to Connecticut. Really wanted to get the Rye.
yes, love 'em and have been commenting in the thread in the Beer and Spirits forum, great stuff!
I ordered 3 bottles. Tried to order Purple Karma also but seems to be only available for purchase in the tasting room.
Let me know what those were. The Rye should be no problem. This is a first time ground with the system we have to use to be able to do this so some hiccups are expected. Shipping to CT shouldn’t be an issue. Email me directly (I think you have it) and we’ll solve it.
The rye is amazing. We’ve thrown some heavy hitter rye bottlings at it and it’s destroyed all of them.
We put a hold on the PK because of inventory dropping to near zero. Email me directly tomorrow and I’ll check up on where we are at.
