Grand Vin got me with one of their closeout deals, 139 apiece seemed very attractive. Restrained myself from other stuff on the list, some nice white burg offers.

The fruits of my first-ever Bordeaux EP purchase, back in 2023. I know far more about wine than I did two years ago, but I am so very pleased to have these, as Brane-Cantenac and Giscours have become the de facto birth year wines for my family. I can’t wait to share these with my second daughter many years from now, and with any luck I will get my hands on more bottles to have from time to time until that day comes.

Many cheers,

Picked up from auction house yesterday. Birth year dry Sauternes. Ullage and colour about as expected for 67 years. We will see

Birthday is in July, so bottle with worst ullage gets to go 1st.

Macallan Peter Blake edition

Half of what I used to get, but it’s probably time for me to start tapering down with these purchases anyway.

2x Giacomo Conterno Barbaresco 1970 (2 other are for my friend, he picked them up for me as I’m abroad and keeps them in his cellar).

Let’s hope they are still sound, fill levels are good and provenance for the last x years is certainly ok.

The 1926 60 year?:astonished: I am assuming the other one, or else this would belong in the “most expensive” thread.

Brodie,

I had the 1961 or 1964 Gilette Sauternes a while back and it was phenomenal. As you know, yours are the sec. 1958 wasn’t an easy vintage, but those bottles look great. Unless one has significantly worse ullage, I’d personally start with the darkest bottle.

Cheers,
Warren

Nice! I hope they’re fantastic. I’ve opened quite a few 1971s from lesser producers, and they’ve all been excellent. But that was an outstanding vintage, though 1970 was still a good one. I suspect the 1970 G. Conternos will offer plenty of pleasure if they’ve been well stored and are handled with care.

Cheers,
Warren

I keep telling myself I’ve cut back on buying, but then today’s shipping notice arrived. Mixed feelings: a bit of guilt for ordering wine I probably didn’t need, and a lot of excitement seeing the caliber of what’s on the way.

Nice haul. You got 4 bottles of the 2013 Rare?

I recently picked up a bottle to try. Haven’t opened yet but would love to hear any insight you may have on it. Thanks.

The other one. I am not a $70k bottle guy. This was ÂŁ550.

Would be way more than $70K.

The “other one” is impressive enough.
