6x 1999 Clos Saron Cabernet ‘Once Upon a Time’
6x 2000 Clos Saron La CuvĂŠe Mysterieuse

Direct from the winery, with favorable (IMO) pricing considering the age. Had the Mysterieuse at Boeufhaus in Chicago last month, and it was absolutely singing. One of the most beautiful and interesting wines I had all year, and plenty of life left.

I hope it lives up to the hype. I’ve had mixed success with secondary market purchases, Look forward to hearing you impressions.

the VCC is significantly better and more enjoyable than the Figeac, IMO, having tasted them independently in the past year

2013 Diebolt-Vallois Blanc de Blancs Fleur de Passion Cramant Extra Brut Grand Cru

On sale for $149 at last bubbles.

Here’s a shameless referral you can use for $10 off for anyone who needs it:

This is a fantastic champagne. I like Fleur de Passion in general, but usually think it needs time on cork before it shows well. I drank a 2013 for the first time at a restaurant in Spain in 2023, and it was rocking great. Bought some for the cellar. Then had another at the same restaurant a year later and it was again fantastic and I bought even more. $149 is a good price, that’s where I bought my second lot.

Ugh now I’m temped to get even more. How long do you think I can lay some down? They are in the lees for 8+ years and CellarTracker says another 10 years. Bought since the 2012 I tried was great and they are so hard to find stateside and the shipping is free.

I hope some board members buy them (and better if folks use my referral) so I don’t add more bottles to my order .

I’d say 10 years for sure, very likely more, though it depends on how you like your champagne and, as I said, it’s delightful now. I had a 2004 in October that was fantastic, though they were dosed a little higher in that period.

I had some iffy ones from the late 90s, but those were off vintages and I also think the wines are better now.

Haven’t had this vintage, but a normal BdM 2018 Le Ragnaie in Nov '24 was an eye opener - a wow wine (I rarely drink BdM or RdM)

What do you think of the Billon wines? I think I have only tried one and I don’t buy them because, well, you can’t buy everything.
