2019 Prum WS Kabinett and 2019 Prum GH Spatlese backfill. A no brainer considering recent Prum price increases.
It’s the Bordeaux model! Keep raising prices and then the prices from a few years ago, which themselves were the product of a big price hike, no longer look so bad!

The 98 Trotanoy is extraordinary, but it has exploded on price as well. Hard to find under $500!

The GH Spatlese was one of the highlights when we did a horizontal 2019 tasting of all the WS and GH Prum wines.
Very different model to Bordeaux. Bordeaux is opportunistic and short sighted, and every vintage pricing is done in order to correct the mistakes of the previous year.
Germany has long been undervalued, an important top producer such as Prum should be getting decent money. You might want to complain about the three tier system which results in much higher prices here than Europe.

What is crazy is how inexpensive these are in the UK. Bordeaux Index has the following prices in bond
2019 Prum GH Kab: $20.50
2019 Prum WS Kab: $22.80
2019 Prum GH Spat: $30.66
2019 Prum WS Spat: $25.83
If I were smarter and a bigger fish I’d figure out how to buy and ship these from the UK. Bordeaux Index quoted me $17.50 per bottle to get them to NY, and then additional cost to ship to me via common carrier which defeats any savings.
I ended up buying from Saratoga pre-arrival and let them do the logistics.
Very interesting. £122 per case, I paid £132 per case on release. Deflation is here!

So I opened one of my 2015’s. It was bad, to a point where I think it might have been heat damaged. So maybe there are some unfortunate bottles in circulation?
