Thoughts?

The wine took some time to open up. Once open, it was a subtle blend of matchstick, lemon curd, minerality with medium plus acidity. Very enjoyable!

  • 2015 Goodfellow Family Cellars Pinot Noir Heritage No. 6 - USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley (2/1/2026)
    Needed a couple hours to open up, but lots of fresh florals beautifully interwoven with fresh red berries. Hint of herbal complexity too and just a touch of maturity showing. Plenty of tannin and acidity left to support aging.

    Surprisingly elegant for the ABV and vintage. Probably best in another 10 years. (91 points)

I finished this bottle, every last drop, without any help tonight. That’s the highest compliment I can give a wine, and ts a compliment I didn’t give a bottle of Clos de Goisses, Grand Siecle or multiple bottles of Alfred Gratien Cuvee Paradis over the last year . It’s full and ripe, though completely elegant, and just packed with salty minerals and tart lemon curd notes, finishes with persistence. Pairs well with Cannabis Sativa and Stuart Gordon’s Re-Animator.

That’s perfect! Drink two of them this summer and then the other two the next year.

What do you think is a good serving temp for your rose?

I know some folks like a rose in the high 40’s-low 50’s.

I prefer some rose warmer. For example, Trinquevedel Tavel is one I enjoy in the high 50’s and warmer. Similar to a Pinot Noir.

It seems your rose might be better at a warmer temp.

Sorry for the delay here, trying to get label proofs approved, a capsule order working, tie up BD loose ends, and review pre-algebra and wrestling for the boys…

I like 50 degrees for a serving temp for the Rosé. It’s developed the body to be better a little warmer, and still has the acidity to stay focused around 50.

I’m not buying the line that the Pats didn’t deserve to be there, and I think they will be back once they improve the offensive line and Drake gets more experience, but the better team definetely won.

I’m a heavy believer in “defense wins championships” and this year that pretty much played out exactly.

I’m 100% with you that the Patriots deserved their spot. Bronco fans have an argument that losing their starting QB the week before changed the Conference championship, and Bills fans may have an argument that they are cursed but the Patriots still earned their spot and their defense played a tremendous game. Even if people(including me) believe that Darnold isn’t truly a premier quarterback, Woodson and Gonzales were blankets on the Seahawk receivers and they stymied the Seahawks offense most of the day.

I do think the Seahawks had the best defense in the league this year, and as Trent Dilfer proved with the Ravens, a good quarterback can win a championship with a great defense if he doesn’t turn the ball over.

I’m pretty sure the Patriots will be a force to reckon with. Their O-line is young and will just get better. Both of these teams wil have a tough road next year, between strength of schedule and every team working on figuring them out. But I think both will also be good teams again. (Advantage Seattle as Darnold’s playoffs were very solid but no one is going to confuse him for Patrick Mahomes and pay him too much…)

2015 Goodfellow Family Cellars Chardonnay Richard’s Cuvee Whistling Ridge Vineyard - USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley, Ribbon Ridge (12/17/2025)
– cork pulled about 30 min. before initial taste –
– tasted non-blind over 3.75 hrs –

NOSE: expressive, ripe Chard. aromas; not overtly oaky; perhaps a touch reduced (popcorn); pleasant hint of fresh pine needles.

BODY: medium rich green-tinged golden yellow color; medium bodied.

TASTE: ripe, but not rich or overblown; 13.6% alc. not noticeable; popcorn; ample mineral aspect. i like where this is at right now, but there’s no necessary rush to drink, either.

so did a little experiment. Opened up a 23 Temperance Chardonnay yesterday. Straight on pop and pour, from the fridge it was very closed and almost thin. Splash to taste, good chard notes but felt disjointed like it just had been woken up from a nap. which it had.

Capped and put back in the fridge and opened today. Hugely aromatic in the glass and increasing as it warms up. Palate is almost fully open, it’s layered with flavor, barest hint of matchstick/flint, then some lemon/lime notes, some stoniness, almost some savory notes. Very lovely acidity lingers on the tongue. This is just spot on tasty. Almost a pale greenish gold in color.

definitely speaks to allowing wines to really settle in for a couple years, or knowing that you need to think 24 hours in advance to get the full effect or decant

Obviously not who you’re asking but I’d go for the 17 Durant. Tends to be a little more forward of a vineyard. 17s I’ve tried are just starting to open up.
