Camping trip last weekend with adult kids (is that an oxymoron?), and brought along N.'s 270 2019 RRV Pinot Noir and 279 2016 Clare Valley Shiraz to go with BBQ chicken over the fire. 270 drank as good as it always does, but once again the 279 separated itself in getting everyone to sit up and take notice of it. Sadly this was the last bottle. Looks like I will need to go to Australia if I’m ever to have this again. Can anyone recommend a similar wine that is available in the US?
Gil,
from negociants
Maybe that helps trying to locate this. Likely not available in US?
Cheers, Tim
First bottle of LOT 30 is deiicious, well balanced and perfectly enjoyed with a Duck Confit! Silky & yummy!!!
Well done CAM!!!
I have Lot 30 Atlas Peak 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon that was bottled August 2020 tabbed for 2026-2027 first opening, but you are surely tempting me . . . . . .
Thanks Tim, been to the Skillogalee website and also searching Cellartracker for Clare Valley Shiraz. So far the ones I picked seem to all be AUS only wines, but I haven’t gone through them all yet. NB N. 279 is in the top 10 CT holdings for 2016 Clare Shiraz. Will keep looking!
I always love seeing dN’s in the woods/forest/wilderness anywhere outdoors!! Where everything seems to taste better.
Thank you!!
I sure do like Lot 270 2019 Russian River Valley Pinot Noir, also.
Found my 227 and it’s amazing on PnP. Gonna give it a few hours of air but it’s already excellent.
I am planning on opening the last bottle of my first case of 227 in a few minutes. Looking forward to it
I have a couple 279s I will sell you for
N.25 was still kicking last night. If you have some, give it about an hour of air. Still a top 5 DN for me
Keith,
Thanks, I had a N.25 in my hand last evening, picked out a OG N.46 AP Cab. post a review soon.
Cheers, Tim
My favorite Negoce wine thus far……
I have always been underwhelmed with #25……it’s a good wine, but a bit too austere for me……I still have a few bottles left and plan to let them rest a bit more to see if they flesh out a bit
I think I’ll fly to Australia every year and pick up a case, but thanks for the offer!
Tim, your recent review inspired me to open a N.60 last night with a NY strip. Excellent! Thanks for the rec.
Timothy / bwolff ~ you both were brave to fork out $300 for blind Tranche I sales. For the most part, all the early de Négoce offers ranged from $8 to as high as $18 per bottle. Not until Lot 59 Mt. Veeder and Lot 60 Yountville Cabernet Sauvignon did we see prices sore as high as $25. Then offers came in generally in the $8 -to-$15 range until we were greeted with a Lot 132 Howell Mountain $25 Cab Sauv once again. Look at us today trusting DTC sales again sometimes suggesting even higher Tranche I pricing. Are these higher prices indicators of better wines than what was first offered by Cameron Hughes three or four years ago?
Has anyone tried lot 543 yet? This was one of the other 2021 wine recently offered, 2021 Oak Knoll Cab.
Still trying to figure out this enigma of lot 550.
Will be curious to hear the answers here . . .
Could be that ‘suggested pricing’ for the actual wines has increased, leading to Cam et al having the ability to charge more and still offer a ‘great value’. Or it could be that dN and Cam are incurring higher costs on their end and are having to move up pricing to make up for it?
Lots of other potential reasons - but again, curious to hear . . . and just remember, ‘higher price’ does not equate to ‘better wines’ necessarily . . .
Cheers
I am also looking forward to enjoying #543 Oak Knoll, Cabernet, 2021! Yet with less than four months in the bottle I’m gonna wait till at least thanksgiving time, to try my very first of the case.

“Could not wait to try new delivery; enjoyed with some cheese and then roast beef. No bottle shock issues. As advertised! This is a less bold cab – just what Oak Knoll is known for. Smooth on the pallet with silky tannins. Medium body is not jumping out with flavors you’d find in a full-bodied cab. Still delicious but will be hunting more flavor with some cellaring.
