What de Négoce wine are you drinking tonight?

Really? I have enjoyed #17 and the vast majority of the comments I have seen on here say the same thing…

Eh…maybe it was just early on that it wasn’t getting much love

17 was one of my first purchases. I drank 9 bottles in that first 18 months trying to convince myself it was good or trying to train my palate to like “good Napa cabs”…bc it wasn’t great. Then on the last 3 bottles it turned positive and I ended up buying 2 more cases. It’s a lovely cab. Not as good as 200/213/241/300. But if I had a steakhouse and could serve lot 17 as my house table wine, I would be thrilled.

Lot 430 2021 Sonoma County Cabernet Sauvignon
First of 12, 1.5+ years bottled. Into the decanter 2 hours prior.
Well colored, muted nose, richly structured for 13.9%. Easy to drink up the bottle.
Per offer: “ Previous vintages on this gem have scored upwards of 95+ points from almost every major publication.” I will score it 89, B.
Also from the offer: “ we have to be “super tight lipped” and can’t say the source winery’s actual price, but a safe price to share is roughly $80/bottle, $960/case. We’re offering it to this list for $149/case, that’s only $12+/bottle. Lot 430 is a 100% single-vineyard source Cabernet Sauvignon aged in 100% French oak for 18 months.”
This nice wine is worth the price paid, and worth aging. Try now with decanting, if you wish?

Lot 356 2021 Barossa Valley Shiraz really is a pop-n-pour and delicious within ~10 minutes. It just needs a little air. No need for a decanter.

It was delicious and got better through the evening. It is a shame we only have 2 left…

Seeing some comments above about OG N.17 Napa Cab- let’s try another one. Still a beauty.

  • 2018 de Négoce Cabernet Sauvignon OG N.17 - USA, California, Napa Valley (7/11/2025)
Double decanted back into bottle 1 hour prior to grilled Rib Eye steak dinner
Pours dark garnet in glass. Aroma in wineglass shows dark cherries, slight cigar box. This Cabernet bathes your mouth with dark juicy fruits of raspberry and plums mixed with nice minerality. Medium acidity with firm, aged tannins, round out a nice finish that paired well with steak. Less than a case left now. These 2018 Napa Cabs from de Negoce are just hitting stride now. Should hold well for 2-3 more years. (92 points)

Like n.151, this one seems to be getting a little worse with time. I didn't have time to decant, so that could be an issue here, but it's drinking flatter than the numerous bottles I've had over the years. It's not flawed, it just isn't going the distance, it's lacking energy and is a good wine, just not what it was when younger. (89 points)

I found 151 to be fairly enjoyable early on, so I drank quite a few of them. I found two of them in the last six months and I had one last week. I agree that it has not really improved. I’m not sure. I haven’t.noticed any degradation but certainly I’m not noticing it improving like the other 2018.

I’m a little more optimistic about drinking windows than you guys. I’d say those 2018 dN cabs will keep for at least 10, not few more years.
I dont think I’ve tasted any lately that is showing any sort of development. They have just shed some baby fat. But they are still babies.

My notes on Lot 151 say to let it breath for 3+ hours and only then it was lovely. We have 1 left.

Mikko, MY DRINKING window is likely the one that is restrictive more than these 2018 Napa Cabs, I’m not that young. Thanks for the post.

Cheers, Tim

Tim,
Same here! In ten years I’ll be nearly 79, yikes! :face_with_peeking_eye: Hopefully, Ageworthy??
I hope red wine still tastes good at that advanced age?
I figure that if I put my Tritip in the blender, mix it with Geritol, I will need a fine red wine chaser?.?

Lot 435 | 2021 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
First of 12, 1.5+ years bottled, decanted early for one hour, then back into the bottle for evening enjoyment.
Yes, it’s still a young one, with a very brilliant future. Dark, delightful and a bit closed initially, opening fairly well over the evening. I really am happy with this $199/cs., a $100/b tasting room special?
Per offer: “ Crafted to be a house-styled $1,200/case tasting room-only exclusive featuring fruit from two of Napa’s most coveted sub appellations, we got it for a song. Its not hard to see that this is the best deal on Napa Valley Cab all year, so folks it’s time to BACK UP THE TRUCK! Lot 435 is 100% French oak aged fruit, 100% Cabernet Sauvignon Blend of Yountville & Oakville 100% French oak 14.1% alc.”
I deeply enjoyed this last night, easy to drink it up. Double Yum now, with decanting. Better to give it another year at minimum.
with New York steak
Beautiful weather for Al fresco dining.

Have to say $27 is the max I’m looking to spend per bottle with dN or CamX
