PnP. Combination of red and black fruit, getting blackberry, black cherries. Soft and easy drinker. Mom enjoyed her glass. I would still place outside my top 5.
With so many CX wines ordered I had to look up your references:
Lot 21 | 2023 Napa Valley Cabernet Franc and Lot 29 | 2023 Oakville District Cabernet Franc. This will fun again to compare to Lot 49 | 2023 Carneros Napa Cabernet Franc.
Nice - but in this case, no. For me, the ‘sourness’ I’m describing in this wine is more akin to a bitter melon - sour and a touch bitter at the same time. I oftentimes differentiate between ‘sourness’ and ‘’acidic’ - the latter to me is more welcome than the former.
Those match my expectations as the three that I was all in on.
The Lot 4 is a top tier wine. Will hopefully check in on the other lots of red at some point but I have lots 1 and 2 slated to drink before 24 and 27. Also plan to drink more of Lot 32 first as well and perhaps even 50 when I get it in spring.
Lot 04 was excellent on day 2;
24 & 27 are ready to go if you get tempted. Loved the 2nd half of the bottle of 27 on day 2 this time (no decanter involved);
32 I tried once and have noted down try again in Q1 2027;
The remainder of my Lot 1’s I am holding off drinking until Q1 2027.
But Jamie, you liked these wines even without the fancy brand named labels?
You must be very secure in your palate! You don’t drink “the label”, Good for you
It’s nice to know that good people & good palates can enjoy these wines, without them being “Veblen Goods”:
A Veblen good is a type of luxury good for which the demand increases as the price increases, in apparent contradiction of the law of demand, resulting in an upward-sloping demand curve. They are named after American economist Thorstein Veblenwho described the contradiction.
In 1899, the sociologist Thorstein Veblencoined the term conspicuous consumption to explain the spending of money on and the acquiring of luxury commodities (goods and services) specifically as a public display of economic power—the income and the accumulated wealth—of the buyer. To the conspicuous consumer, the public display of discretionary income is an economic means of either attaining or maintaining a given social status.[2][3]
WOW, 2023 Stags Leap CS is approachable with under 4 months bottled! Very Nice to hear, thanks for the review!
Hmmmm, such a very great value. Waiting, but Tempting……
