What CAM X wine are you drinking tonight?

Do you get the gun powder / flint / matchstick note? I think I might be particularly sensitive to it?

Did you find 27 more enjoyable on day 0 than day 1 as well? Seems like the additional time brought out more tannins and dark fruit, while any sense of sweetness/young fruit was lost.

#200 is my favorite DN wine by far…and my wife and I have been talking about moving to Portugal…

I loved 27 on day 2! More complex for me.

Jamie, I think I would agree as well. We had 1/3 of the bottle remaining for day 2 and seems to have closed up some. 92 pts day 1 and 91 on day 2. Cheers!

(2 hrs in a decanter) Fair amount of oak, concentrated, dark, rich, black cherry, little heat, dry mid/late palate

wife says: ā€œcherry-tobacco-wood (needs cigar)ā€

(1.5 hrs coravin pour) lighter bodied, less concentrated, delicate, drier, raspberry, strawberry.

Lot 20 cam:

ā€œDeep garnet in the glass, the bouquet is lifted and pretty with black cherry and strawberry interlaced with an earl grey tea and rose petal halo while undergirded with black earth and hints of dark chocolate.ā€

Wife doesn’t agree with the tea note, but I can get behind it.

Lot 8 cam:

ā€œLot 8 is a fresh, spicy, perfectly ripe and sumptuous Pinot Noir. Cherry red in the glass with a shade of magenta that gives it a fresh color, it features an immediately gorgeous bouquet of ripe cherries and strawberries framed with fresh-peeled tangerine and black tea haloed by pretty rose petal florals.ā€

Cherry/strawberry to tangerine peel is a nice descriptor of the way it’s kind of bright red fruit with a dry midpalate. To me the spice notes and complexity don’t show until it’s been decanted 4+ hours (and this was a coravin pour).

We both preferred Lot 20 over Lot 8. Concentrated and complex, lot 8 is delicate.

I think @Mikko_Tuomi called lot 20 ā€œa cab drinkers pinotā€ and could definitely see that.

I will say, I want to taste some Pinots blind at different price points.

Maybe Cam X Pinots are perfect for me because I just really have no interest in buying a $50-$100 pinot. I’m just not that into them yet, but it has been fun tasting them.
