What bottle of wine did you open today? (Part 2)

2020 Vie di Romans Flors di Uis - I kept tasting and questioning, is this wine corked? I’m usually very good at picking up corked wines. But this was so small of a taint that I wasn’t quite sure. Had wonderful fruit, but the finish had a slight cardboard note to it. I always thought if it’s corked, it’s corked. Never a part way cork!

@Adam_Frisch wine still fires with all cylinders.

2019 Sabelli-Frisch Mission La Malinche

Very pale brick/garnet, there are rose wines darker than this.
Nose with tart but pure red fruit, campari, some crushed pepper and florals and tea.
Palate is medium bodied, fresh, just a touch of acidic lift. Fruity with red cherries and strawberries, black tea, and campari in palate as well.
Right off the bat this used to have really grippy tannins but they are rapidly evaporating, now almost completely dissolved and smoothened out. Finishes medium with pure red fruity notes.
Time to drink up as I don’t think it will evolve anywhere, definitely a wine to drink young. Good stuff still!

2019 Uccelliera Rosso di Montalcino

Nice medium-bodied red with cherries at the fore and good acidity. Would buy again.

2018 Domaine Tempier Bandol Rose

Drinking this Rose and dreaming of my trip to Provence next summer. This is an absolutely stunning wine from Domaine Tempier that has aged wonderfully. Subdued aromas of strawberry, apricot, and rosemary lead the way, while the palate has firm acidity and a textured finish of jasmine and white pepper. This was definitely a Rose to get excited about.

Lemon, salt, sourdough bread, nuts, apples and pears. I love ouillé (non oxidative raised) Savagnin when it is on… and this is on!

It’s not like pregnancy. Mildly or minimally corked happens.

My wife was mildly pregnant for a while… but then it got worse…

Annihilating another bottle of 2021 Emrich-Schönleber Mineral. Bought a full case on release but that might not be enough

I just had the 2019 of the same wine. Just lovely and a major QPR

A picture is only worth a thousand words if you can read the words in the picture. (In my defensive, I recognize the scotch and bourbon in the background.)

Ha! 2006.

Honestly, not the best showing. Enjoyed it more last year.

Great bourbon!

2020 Domaine Pichot Vouvray Clos Berger Demi-Sec
Definitely demi-sec, some sweetness, lifted tropical Chenin at this stage, needing time to show some complexity. Not my style, but when I recommend to customers seeking something ‘fruity’ they love it.

Not surprised, unfortunately, it does need time. Hope your BAMA 98 was better than the 04 I opened this week - a bad patch or a bad bottle, but rather stewed!

2016 La Chablisienne Chablis 1er Cru Mont de Milieu

Light slightly developed golden color. Nose is pleasant with honeysuckle, apricot, salinity and minerals. Palate has medium- acidity and is somewhat developed and on the ripe side. Yellow stone fruit, honey, and pretty heavy oak. Finishes medium length and somewhat complex with salty toast and some reductive matchstick.
Very nice bottle likely drinking close to it’s peak but hasn’t reached it yet.

Château Leydet-Valentin 2006
Meh.
Nose is all crème de cassis with some oak (coffee and a hint of vanilla). It smells like the palate is gonna be lush and soft (for lack of better translation, in French I would say “mou”). Palate is better than expected: some red berries alongside the cassis, medium acidity, medium tanins. Lacks any complexity and the finish is short and just tannins. Not a fan. I think i still have 2 left. Good news is that they were extra cheap. I’ll find a way to clear my cellar of them. Be careful friends coming over for dinner and asking for more red…
