Henri Germain Meursault 2018
Clean as a whistle but, very reduced. Lots of sesame on the nose, some ripe citrus and maybe a little peach. Missing a little drive it still shows some mineral notes and enjoyable bitterness on the finish. Good texture on this. Maybe a little flat and 2018 is probably the cause. Still fun to drink.
LRA Ardanza 2009
Ready to go with plenty of leather, ripe berries and plums initially. Good red-berried acidity and still some grip on the tannins in the long finish. Not the most complex but enjoyable on its own. Should be much more fun with some fatty red meat.

15’ Dauvissat 1er La Forest.
Dense, waxy and saline. Speaks to the vintage. Good, but I like my Chablis a little more on the lean side of the spectrum.

Love the simile you used to describe Pape Clément blanc. Couldn’t put it any better. The stuff is magnificent, but I can’t see the price.
Then again, I much prefer it to white Burgundy, so …

Interesting. Nothing but cherry pie, cherry pie, cherry pie. Delicious, and went very well with hummus and baguette remnants, but just a few eggs short of a dozen.

No. My first experience with this producer actually. Going to try and find some more bottles at my local shop. Picked this one up on sale. The little bit of Syrah punched up the blend nicely. Really enjoyed the bottle.
1990 Raymond Lafon - I’m on a sticky kick lately. I noticed I have a ton of 375s. But with this one, I’ve never had a cork disintegrate as much as this one! Pieces still stuck to the side of the bottle. I had to filter since so much fell thru. Very very dark caramel - like you burnt the sugar. And kind of tasted like burnt caramel, too. Didn’t have much body to it. Kind of thin. Just OK to drink but it did have an unpleasant bitter finish. Probably over the hill

We had this about a year ago – 750ml bottle had been stored by the owner for decades – it was fabulous.

How are tannins doing in the 2019 PdB LN?
Still tannic, but worked well with my burger.

Thank you! I haven’t been purchasing the bottling long enough to fully understand the tannin development curve, so I was just curious where something like 2019 would be. Sounds about right!
FWIW, I had the 2019 Barbaresco several months ago and it was still quite beastly. The Langhe is not surprisingly further along the curve.

Sounds about right! It’s going to be a long, but worthwhile wait for some of these 2019s I expect. That’s what I’ve loved so much about these 2021s, just the ridiculous accessibility and beauty so early on.
