What bottle of wine did you open today? (Part 2)

Andre Clouet Chalky Brut
Notes of chalk, ginger and Granny Smith apples. Paired well with Poached Halibut.

My contribution to last night’s dinner for fellow Wineberserker Clem Nieto who is in town.

Nice! I’ve managed to hold on to a few of these, would you recommend drinking soon or will they hang on a bit longer?

So much for waiting until mid-summer Brian! :joy:

How was it?

I guess I should have clicked!

For my taste, the bottle I had would be in a long good-drinking plateau, easily 5 years, more if you have a very cold cellar.

Thanks Ramon. I’m also sitting on some '05, might check in on that soon.

They were on different nights. Would’ve been fun together

Had a couple bottles of 2019 Matthiason at a business dinner, this was quite nice! Classic Napa cab.

2020 Chateau de Rougeon Bourgogne Rouge Ozanon
Wonderful raspberry note with a little bit of baking spice. I’ll have to buy a few more bottles of this to see how they age.

1985 Domaine Pierre Barge CĂ´te-RĂ´tie

With lunch at Gramercy Tavern.
In stupendously-good drinking form. Fresh in color and flavor. As classic a Northern Rhone syrah can get. Elegant in all aspects. Soulful complexity. A-

Château Thivin Côte de Brouilly Les sept vignes 2021
Pretty nose of fresh berries, slight bramble and fresh tilled earth. The palate is lip-smacking sour berries with some fine grained tanins on the savoury finish. Light-bodied but with some “matière” showing up on the backend as well (chewiness). Fresh and enjoyable… not the most structured nor the most “gourmand” of vintages for this.

This is wide open. Darker cherries, sweet strawberries, licorice, flowers, mint, nail polish, tar and earthy. It is even showing a little brett… A rustic traditional Nebbiolo. Lacking a little intensity.

This might not be the best vintage. But it is so accessible now which is a quality in itself.

So delish. Can’t keep my paws off this case of 375s.

4.5 hour decant. Absolutely beautiful bouquet, could smell this wine for an hour. Lovely soft red fruited flavors, a nice kiss of spice. Still primary but absolutely delicious. Really great with the air, but a long way to go.

2009 Bouchard Teurons. It’s drinking pretty nicely right now.
