2016 Mending Wall Napa cab. As usual it’s a rich and savory style that goes well solo. It’s in a good spot and exploding out of the glass. I don’t think I want to age these or any vintages much longer, but will continue to buy and hold their PS instead for several years.
2020 Enderle & Moll Muller-Thurgau and Weissburgunder. Both sink pours.
Flawed or just not good?
Just not my style.
'92 Beringer Private Reserve, second of 2 bottles purchased earlier this year. This one was decent, but pretty faded imo. I would drink up.

2012 Vilmart & Cie Champagne Premier Cru Rosé Emotion - France, Champagne, Champagne Premier Cru (8/26/2022)
Disgorged January 2018. 40% Chardonnay and 60% Pinot noir from 45 year old vines. pop and pour, wonderful strawberry, persimmon, pear. Purity of fruit. Really well balanced, and drinking beautifully even while clearly very youthful. Just really damn good.

1999 Château Bel Air-Marquis d'Aligre - France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Margaux (8/26/2022)
tastes like an aged Bordeaux, but older than it probably should. Good stuffing, but probably not the best bottle, which is disappointing since it was one of the recent Domaine releases.

Wasenhaus, Spätburgunder, 2020.
F*cking hell it is good. Most open basis Spätburgunder from them at release. They are by far my favourite Pinot Noir winemakers. At 24 euro this is just amazing.
I am a fan of their Spätburgunders in warm vintages like 2018. But everything else in their portfolio has also been disappointing to me.
My final bottle of Franny Beck 2018 Rosé of Pinot Noir. So good, insane QPR, and worked well with Sag Paneer and tandoori chicken. Apparently we’ve consumed 21 bottles of this
Light on its feet, black cherry, a little pepper, anise, gained some weight with time in the decanter. Tannins are integrating nicely. Smooth and tasty finish.
and one to grow on
All drinking beautifully.
I generally like my Ceritas Chards a little younger but the 15 PMR has held up well.
My wife thought the ‘Crow was a bit tight, but agree to disagree. Fully mature but not over (for my palate)
13 Griffin’s was absolutely singing.
The Costalina was in a good place—still with nice acid balance.
Also from last night, 2019 Quintarelli Bianco Secco. Paired well with the vitello tonnato, Hokkaido scallops & pasta courses.

Wow, 85 Magdelaine!
Lat night, 15 Pepiere Gorges and Oysters and Island Creek oysters. Love Pepiere!
I think this is a pretty good pairing.
Sounds likely it was a low fill.
