What bottle of wine did you open today? (Part 2)

Popped a 2017 Petit-Chablis last month an really enjoyed it. Drinking well right now.
Maybe *Some value there.

A ton of value if you’re comparing exclusively to the Côte d’Or

3 years since my last one and it is really starting to snap crackle and pop.

Hey- I’m not crazy, this is pretty good.

Thank you for the blurb. I’ve got a few 2021s and they are nowhere close to being ready.

Two excellent Assyrtikos.
Argyros intense and deep. Citric zest, stones, salinity. Wood gently present but not detrimental.
Kechris (with a dose of pine resin) richer, aromatic, with botanicals, roasted nuts, exotic spices, tobacco.

Last but not least, a fine new fun Rose from La Porte St Jean.

2017 Briords
I like where the 2017 is right now. Not electric, but with a delicious lemon minerality.
The ideal mate for some Chebooktook oysters which toed the line between briny and sweet and were elevated by a drop of lemon.

Two ridiculous values:

2022 Raats Chenin Blanc. Unoaked. Fresh, ripe, crisp. Stupid value at $15.99.

2019 Lanessan. I was disappointed with 2015 and 2016 with the transition to Hubert Bouard. Not sure who was involved in making this vintage, perhaps even him, but this vintage of Lanessan is real. It’s outstanding.

Had to get out of the heat and smoke in Boise, so headed up to McCall…short 90 minute drive to the mountains. What a day…fishing, swimming, golfing, walking, eating…and finally drinking. Unbelievably beautiful day on the lake. Wife finished off remainder of a Rivers Marie Platt Chard and opened a 2020 Louis Michel MdT 1er Chablis for dinner…freat citric tartness with a balancing apple and unripe pear…will follow it with some Bushmills 16 year, aged in Oloroso Sherry and Bourbon casks and finished in Port pipes, its one of the great single malt values out there.

Last night, we opened our first bottle of 2013 Domaine Henri Gouges Nuits St. Georges Les Pruliers. I was impressed, and a little surprised, by the energy and grace of the bottle. I am not sure it will make old bones but I see no reason to ask it to. I have a couple of bottles left and will mark them down for drinking, with great pleasure, over the next couple of years

That Estate Argyros Assyrtiko “Cuvee” bottling look like its aiming for something over and above their “basic” Assyrtiko bottling, which I am a fan of and is about $35-$45 USD.

Night 1 in Mansfield. Been seeing Phish for close to 30 years. They still get by blood pumping.

Roulot was shy. It’ll be a banger by night 3. Moreau was singing.

Tempier Cab is my fav bottling. Good to hear ‘02 is in window.

My favourite CdRV, the mourvedre gives structure and depth. Dark fruit, herbs, licorice with a floral overtone and enough tannin and acidity to stand up to a barbecue of lime pickle chicken and red peppers with tzatiki (loads of garlic).**** which is incredible for the money.

White wine with “phish” is a great pairing :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

I’ve been fortunate to discover iOTA (through a prior Berserker Day) AND that I can still purchase some of these Oregon Pinot Noir bottlings with some bottle age. The 2013 Pelos Sandberg is delicious.
