What bottle of wine did you open today? (Part 2)

Thanks Ramon, Heitz Martha’s was actually 1987 (bottled 1991).
Ultramarine was 2018 Keefer Ranch BdB
Good night for Togni, 92 was runaway WOTN, with Bond and 01 Togni/77 Sterling taking silver and bronze (tie),
Fun night.

Fun night, thanks for looping me in. I’ll post some impressions of the wines in a bit.

Great night and most wines showed really well and a pleasure to drink. 77 Sterling biggest surprise of the night, and Mayacamas unexpectedly underwhelming.

Ramon, good to see you as it’s been a while.

Decent wine from what I understand was a challenging year.

2011 Domaine du Petit Clocher Coteaux du Layon “Prestige” (500ml)
We have enjoyed many bottles of this wine, but this will be our last one. The wine continues to drink very well with the acid receding and the fruit becoming richer and more complex over the past few years. What a treat!

Checking in.

It will do.

Had ‘15 yesterday and was quite confused. Nose was super vanilla heavy. Mouth was tart, some iron, tiny black olive, cranberry affair that finished quickly. Hoping for strange bottle.

Wow, well that sucks. I’m not a huge fan of the 15 vintage, but just the heavy expression of Oak there is troublesome. Have you tried the 15 Iles Feray? It is really quite good. I don’t think I have tried the 2015 Saint Joe since release.

Have not tried the '15 Iles. That is good to hear though.

A friend’s friend taking independent run at the '15 St. Joe this coming week. Hopefully will get some clarity. Sometimes it takes a village.

Friday vino and I expected a fruit bomb but this was delicious. Layers of red and dark fruit and a lingering leathery finish. I wonder how well it will age and whether I have the willpower to let my other four do so

Many years ago, dear friend @maureen_nelson introduced me to both Truchot and Bachelet on the same evening. This evening’s incredible wine reminds me of her and her generosity.

A little heavy for the weather, but good stuff.

A very similar experience with 2015s out of half bottles. And super bretty as well. Regular bottles were fine.

An evening of random cellar grabs.

An Atlantic Riesling. A bit of age suits it well. Restrained, elegant. Not quite dry, mineral, fine nonintrusive aromatics. Stone fruit and grapefruits sprayed with sea water. A long finish leaving a pleasant slightly bitter aftertaste. Solid.

Is this a pinnacle of Le Volte? I don‘t really need this in my life.

Awesome. So glad to hear this. I bought 6 or maybe more, tried one on release and really liked it, then shipped it to storage. It was $50 or less back then. I recall also buying a lot of 2010 at that same time, Total Wine had it for $70 and I kept getting those 20% off coupons. I was running into the store like a phat kid chasing the ice cream truck.

After a couple of champers. Both were enjoyable.

Worst background ever on a WB pic?

Eric tells me I paid $41.50 per. I bought a case (which I rarely do) and forgot about it until doing some cellar maintenance. It punches way above its weight in my view, but you have to like trad bdx; it is not a showy wine.

Damn, I wonder if I will like it then! :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:
