An excellent idea

But make sure to cellar enough bottles, in all colors, for the young Wineberserker (lurking in the background)

The balance was pretty decent for a 2015. Didnât feel too warm, big or clumsy. As I mentioned this was a good wine, it just lacks that bit that makes it stand out with the best CF. It is the same way I feel about the wines from Roches Neuves most of the time if that gives any reference point.
It absolutely does. Itâs probably what I like about most Roches Neuves and Sanzay and even sometimes Domaine du Collier, it kinds of surf on the border of the Cab Franc from Loire markers making it nondescript to some but enjoyable to others. Iâm in the enjoyable camp. But it definitely doesnât scratch the same itch as a Raffault, Baudry, Joguet, Guiberteau or even Porte St-Jean.
I blinded some friends on a 2016 Roches Neuves FdP a while back and guesses were Alsace Pinot Noir, Jura red and Gamay.
2019 Battuello Vineyards âStallaâ Cabernet Sauvignon
Just received these last week and decided to open one, as I have not had one of their cabs yet. Didnât have time for it decant, so this was enjoyed with minimal air. What a terrific wine! Medium-to-full bodied with dark red fruits and a refreshing level of acidity that has become a bit rare in Napa Valley. This reminded me of an EMH Black Cat but with the fruit/acid balance shifted more to the former, making it ready to go much earlier. My wife and I both loved it and, although I usually give my wines a few more years in the cellar, I can see us drinking our other two bottles in the coming months and needing to restock. Iâm happy to have found (and now support) this small family producer through Berserker Day. 93 pts for me.
Edited to add that I just went and ordered three more.
ZdrĂłwko!
Oh he will have quite the collection
A night of some relatively young wine including a really good 21 William Kelley Etelois (poured blind) that had a fantastic nose and a terrific 21 Fourrier Griotte, a really good vintage for the Domaine.
A very clean 02 Houllion too that I whiffed blind on.
Very nice set of wines.
And I might steal your picture if I ever make an EP and need a cover shot:
The flash. The incognito in a deep thought pose. The city background and the bottle necks. Love it!
For your Pink Floyd cover band.
Purchased in 2015 for âŹ34.
For approaching 14, this is very dark, showing some maturity on the rim. The nose is all richness, maybe chestnuts, dark fruit a bit of earth and some heat.
Richness and extracted in the mouth, but little detail or excitement.
Enjoyable, but clumsy showing its 14.5% alcohol. 91 reflecting what others may think ***1/2, not bothered that I only have one more.
2017 Jadot Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Clos Saint Jacques
A little vegetal and closed upon opening but after three hours it shows very well. Deep aromas of dark berries and wood/smoke, some spices. Intense palate of red berries, feels very fresh with its lively acidity. Length is decent, not extraordinary. Very agreeable structure to this and a superb food wine! So in conclusion, some maturation is evident but still plenty of fruit, exactly how I want my pinot to be.

Nice!!! I almost opened this last night, but ended up pulling an Oregon pinot instead. I will do it tonight.
Some recent birthday celebrations over the past couple of weeks.
1974 Clos du Val - Opened the last bottle from this thread (Clos du Val) Craigslist Wine - $100 60's 70's 80's Lot
The cork came out clean and intact with the ah so and the wine was even better than the same wine from that lot.
2015 Mending Wall Tournahu Cab - Really good wine, but really heavy on the oak. Iâve always preferred their more restrained standard Napa cab for much less $, year after year.
2016 Chrisopher Tynan Cab - The 2014 is still my favorite Tynan cab to date. This was definitely more ripe and in your face.
Opened these together:
2013 Alban Pandora
2010 Alban Lorainne
2013 Alban Seymourâs (not pictured)
All cranking, each totally unique and I donât think any of us considered one WOTN over another. The Pandora was the most fruit forward, Lorainne - big nose, big olive/mushroom/earth, and the Seymourâs was the most elegant and balanced of the three. We opened a Patrina to compare and while it was good, the three above were totally in a class of their own. Amazing wines, plenty life left in them but drinking so good now.
When, is always!
Foreau Demi-Sec 2016:
I have very few experiences with this estate, which is very lamentable, but I just donât run across the wines often. The few I have been lucky enough to try have blown my hair back. This bottle in particular ought to earn me a modeling job for Maxwell, should cassettes ever make a comeback.
Wool, wax and honey on the nose. I didnât expect this much honey on an 8 year old example, but this wine appears to be on the cusp of early maturity. On the palate, it is lush, viscous, long, intense, and deliciously tart. Itâs almost opulent, but the acidity quickly washes away the libertine excesses of its honey and apricot flavors. There is a spine of salinity running through it which helps keep it refreshing. This is just a complete sensual experience from start to finish. Wow!
I never found an opportunity to drink this and since tonightâs meal was homemade chicken ceasar salad I figured this would pair as badly as anything else
It actually worked with the salad and this is a fun wine! On the nose itâs fruit punch and fruit salad with mostly strawberries, ripe citrus, melon and peaches. The palate has no perceptible sweetness with medium-plus acidity and itâs all fruit as well. A short finish on bitter citrus rind provides a little bit of texture. Fun and pretty good.
I hope soâŠ
