Yep, remember that '02 Chevillon fondly. Drank well from day one.
Gonon so good, even in ripe years.
Last night, this. Not in love, maybe needs more time, maybe it just is what it is.
Big dark and powerful style. Lots of dark plum fruit and quite intense. In great shape and drinking very well. I would have preferred a bit more elegance and slightly lighter style.
They laid off the oak and extract starting around 2007. Still have a couple 2005 Clos de Beze that may never be ready to drink.
Staying in Beaune and Nuits this week. Found this Domaine L&L Pavelot Ile des Vergelesses 2021 for a nice price. Why not open it at the Pavelot plot in Pernand itself? Showing the lighter and fresh side of the vintage, but in a good way. Flowery red fruit supported by just the right amount a of oak in the finish.
2016 Isole e Olena Chianti Classico
This was great on release, even better 2 years ago and now it’s singing. Has richness, yet lightness, juicy fruits, yet complexity. So pure. Lots left in the tank. I bought 3 doz, Wish I bought more as I am down to a few bots now.
Lovely
The horse wine is my wife’s favorite.
Lol, is it a horse? I thought it was a donkey this whole time ![]()
TIL Roilette was the name of the original owner’s prized race horse.
This. This Domaine has a direct horse racing/rearing history.
How was the Echelier?
EDIT: I see you posted a separate thread with notes. Thanks!
Advanced!
There was a lot of pleasure on the nose but the palate was flat and short… auction purchase.
Spend a rainy day walking the vineyards in Vosne, Found his in de local Gerbet shop, before cycling back to Nuits. Pop and pour at the hotel. Young an generous, ripe black fruits, cassis and lavender, mocca oak, typical elegant Vosne tannin structure, big finish. Obviously a baby, but still realy captivating Vosne magic.
Damn! That’s an Alfert lunch!!! Nice lineup!
I had a crappy sandwich and a cup of coffee.
It was a fine lunch:
But only one of the three Coudert showed up ![]()
Yea, but I still had a crappy sandwich.
I read your notes, the Roilettes sound like a let down. See if you can hunt down a ‘17 Griffe du Marquis. It’s full on Roilette magic.
Very much agree. Had a 2020 mercurey champs Martin a few months ago. Delightfully primary at first, then closed up over the next 2 hrs. Excellent value for me.
