Agrapart, Coudert, JM Vincent Soler'al and others

We were 7 for lunch and ended up having a lot of wine to taste through!

Agrapart Complantée
I didn’t check the back label but i bought this a couple of months ago so recent disgorgement
Beautiful: pear, citrus, subdued spices, beautiful florals. Very feminine and wonderful. Loved this.

Grand Marrenon 2022
Vermentino (Grole) 55%, Grenache Blanc 40% and Roussane 5%. A little flat but beautiful perfumed nose. Not a hit with me which confirms that I’m not a big southern France whites fan.

JM Vincent Soler’Al Mise #1
Beautiful. Nose on citrus, licorice, spices and minerals. The palate is concentrated, plenty of extract and a long mineral finish. This fooled everyone. Guesses were Burgundy Chard and Pinot Beurrot.

Domaine des Roches Neuves Clos de l’Échelier 2014
Beautiful deep golden almost amber color. Intense nose of quince, hay, dried herbs and citrus. The palate is a let down: some quince and herbs but short and clipped.

Clos de la Roilette 2014
Tired, clipped, not impressive. Guesses were Burgundy Pinot, cold vintage.

Domaine des Roches Neuves FdP 2016
Guesses were all over the place with Alsace red, Jura red and Gamay. Lovely, cranberries, tart cherries some earth and dried herbs. Very subdued green pepper. Wonderful.

Clos de la Roilette Cuvée Tardive 2011
Great drinking: tart cherries, florals, earth and oak spices. Complex and lovely. Blind guesses were Burgundy Pinot and Alsatian Pinot.

Clos de la Roilette Cuvée Tardive 2010
Very little fruit. Mostly oak and structure. Lacking florals and freshness. Average.

Montirius Vacqueyras Guarrigues 2018
Simple, bitter, average.

Echeverria Cab Sauv (2015??)
My French somm buddy called modern, oak chips, thermo flash. I’m more tolerant: new oak, lactic notes, well made but creamy.

Gigondas Vieux Clocher 2016
Red berries, missing concentration, some bitterness and a little thin.

A blend of several vintages of Aligoté. “Soler” as in solera, “Al”, as in Aligoté.
Grapes are harvested late compared to other varieties, and are vinified without sulfur
After one year in barrel, new vintages are added each year, thus adding their unique characteristics, and enriching the wine. 10-15% of the solera wine is pulled and bottled each year

Clos de L’Échelier 2014
Chenin Blanc, Saumur
Thierry Germain, originaire du Bordelais mais installé à Anjou.

Coudert Clos de la Roilette Fleurie (normale et vendange tardive)
Normales: vignes d’environ 40 ans.
Vendanges tardives: vignes de plus de 60 ans et terrain plus argileux.
Foudres de chênes usagés
