What bottle of wine did you open today? (Part 2)

Shared delicious modern Asian dishes @kong.mnl , a cool Makati restaurant whose list contain an impressive breadth of the geekiest stuff that I’ve come upon in this side of the archipelago, and with some at friendly pricing. Wines below (with per bottle prices) were for 4 drinkers, as 2 others opted for non wine beverages.

2016 Jean-Luc Jamet Cote Rôtie ‘Terrasses’ ($51)

  • Just a touch of gloss, peppery notes, fresh meat and clean fruit. A quality Northern Rhone syrah with exciting aging potential.

2019 Domaine de la Pepiere Chateau-Thébaud Muscadet ($39)

  • Scratched my itch for a muscadet with the mineral, sea shellish notes, and lemony fruit from the Loire Valley. Satisfying and lengthy.

2022 Villa Chambre d’Amour Gros Manseng et Sauvignon Blanc ($25)

  • Did not know what to expect when ordered, but the off-dry touch, cool-weather fruit and refreshing texture paired very well with some of our Asian-inspired dishes.
