- 2022 Savage Wines Follow the Line - South Africa, Western Cape (7/4/2024)
92% Cinsault and 8% Syrah; 50% whole-bunch fermentation. Pretty and lifted aromatics with sweet, but not quite candied red fruit. Good freshness and concentration. Reminded me of the Comando G style that’s going for purity and transparency of fruit (and I liked this better than most Comando Gs that I’ve tried). Another great value. 75% Sauvignon Blanc, 25% Semillon. Made in a serious style with a reductive nose and an impressive weight on the palate. Ripe citrus fruit with honey and elderflower notes, and a nice waxy texture. Very impressive for the price point. (92 pts.)
