What bottle of wine did you open today? (Part 1)

2009 Kale - Kick Ranch Vineyard

NV Larmandier-Bernier Extra Brut Blanc de Blancs Latitude Champagne with thin crust pepperoni pizza. Believe it or not, it worked.

With dinner tonight: Champagne Delamotte Brut NV & 1985 Domaine Pothier-Rieusset Pommard 1er Cru Clos de Verger.

2010 Pio Cesare Barbera d’Alba Fides with pizza.

2000 Sociando-Mallet

2010 Robert Mondavi Winery Pinot Noir Reserve. My wife made a ham loaf and this went very well with it.

2007 Torrin Akasha

2010 Domaine les Grands Bois Côtes du Rhône Villages Cairanne Cuvée Maximilien - a good value CdRV.

82 Trotanoy, 89 Lynch Bages, 2000 La Tache

2007 Cathiard Aux Murgers - delicious wine, 3rd bottle in one month, just could not keep my hands off them. Down to 9 bottles.

2012 Clos du Tue-Boeuf Cheverny Rouillon
2008 Domaine Lignier-Michelot Morey St. Denis Chenevery
2001 La Rioja Alta Rioja 904

Hosted some folks over last night to weather a decent snow storm. In order of preference:

2005 Cayuse En Chamberlin

2007 Carlisle James Berry

2005 Cayuse Bionic Frog

2007 Saxum Bone Rock

2007 Saxum James Berry

All were outstanding, but the EC was very special, and the Carlisle was better than many of its higher-priced brethren. The Saxums were great, but had a touch too much sweetness for my tastes.

Also had an outstanding 2001 Donnhoff Oberhauser Brucke Spatlese, and never got to the 1999 Donnhoff Niederhauser Hermannshohle Auslese…maybe today!

Today:

2009 Sojourn Rodger’s Creek

Yesterday found a bottle of 2004 Berhens & Hitchcock Everything but…The kitchen sink that I didn’t know I had. To say it was “rocket fuel” would be kind.

I Pobega’d a 2011 Ceritas Costalina PN after setting aside a thick and boozy 2004 Dehlinger Goldridge PN.
The Ceritas was off the charts good. If anyone has a stash that they deem not worthy, send me a PM. [cheers.gif]

Our little neighborhood bistro recently hired Mark Slater (formerly of Citronelle and Rays The Steaks) as somm and to compose the list. He steered us to the 2009 JJ Confuron CdN Villages Les Vignottes. It was really rather nice. Expensive, though, for what it was off the list (60% more than retail).

2006 Concha y Toro Cabernet Sauvignon Don Melchor (Private Reserve)

2011 Lucia “Gary’s” SLH Syrah. Outstanding.

a 2011 DiNaRells negre from the Garriiguella cooperative in Spain (mostly garnacha, but with merlot and cab).
