What BEER are you drinking? (Part 2)

Nope. Green Cheek is excellent – no doubt – but they’re a step or two behind Monkish.

Plenty of breweries will put out a hazy from time to time that is Monkish’s equal, but nobody is consistently as good as what Monkish puts-out on the regular. The two breweries that come the closest have been (1) Arrow Lodge and (2) Pariah. Sadly, Pariah either doesn’t exist anymore, or they’re now located out east somewhere (Maryland, iirc) — they used to be in San Diego, but closed-up shop during or shortly after the pandemic.

I didn’t know Arrow Lodge was that good, will have to check out.I think, because of the name similarity with ‘Campsite brewery’ (also in Covina area), that I had negative associations

Arrow Lodge is right by me, but I’ve never been. Will rectify that soon.

Yeah, I had the exact same feelings about Arrow Lodge. Until I tried their beers. Flippin’ awesome. They also have a new(er) spot in the Arts District in DTLA. A four pack of their “Arrowmatic” IPA is what first raised my eyebrows (iirc, it clocks-in at 8%, so it might be a weaker DIPA) — although it’s not a hazy, it’s more of an unfiltered nu school west coast brew. Try it if they have it when you go. But, across the board, their IPAs are generally excellent, often hitting what I would deem 9.5/10 and 10/10.

Just what I needed after a hike.

As a pale lager aficionado, our Tap Room is a great place to hang out. Pils, Helles, and Pils de Pils are all fantastic, and a least two of the three are always on tap.

Leikem Belgian Pilsner on draught here in newest taproom en Centro.

Not beer but ran across my first Tepache here in Ohio. Honestly never heard of it, I liked it except I swear it had some Brett which always bugs me.

No idea if this is a decent producer?
Our choices are limited here of course.

I guess they consider it fruit wine, but wasn’t very vinous so thought I’d leave it here.

Daredevil Muse Belgian-style Golden Ale. Daredevil is an OG craft brewery in Indy.

This is very refreshing, with a cool, triple-esque mouthfeel. 8.5% abv.

Interesting! I’ve never heard of this stuff, let alone seen or tasted it.

Love belgians…wish more places worked on them

One of the interesting styles of beer I have had. Notes of chocolate, cherry, and vanilla. This was intentionally not carbonated, and is such almost liqueur like with its alcohol level and sweetness.

I’m sure you’ve enjoyed some of The Bruery’s beers?

I can’t stand begins-style beers. Something about the yeast (I think) absolutely ruins them for me across the board. :no_mouth:

Yup, big fan. Some of their stuff is too experimental for me, but that quality is always there

Had to travel to a few places to catch Duke v Houston last night as Monterrey was facing off against Guadalajara and that took up all the screens.

Landed at new taphouse, Bardo, which let me set dining room screen to NCAA as everyone was in bar. Later on, as dining room filled, patrons pissed hoops was on!

Upside was Santa Sabina on draught. The Ft. George of Guadalajara making nation’s best stouts. Additionally, upside was dining room frigid with a/c. All nipples could cut glass.

Stout de Olla, had 1000 ml with that epic comeback!

Thank you for these - ending up visiting Cyprez and Falling Piano. Both were cool experiences

They didn’t have the arrowmatic at the DTLA location, but their DIPA hazy ‘best buds’ was really good.

Thrilled to hear you enjoyed it, Julian!

What part of town do you call home?

Whittier, so basically equidistant from Downtown and Anaheim brewries

Easter candy!
