Sofia Electric Brewing Brewprofen Fruited Sour
5%, collaboration with Brewski. I didn’t read the can, poured this, took one sniff and wondered who the heck replaced my beer with a tropical fruit cocktail. But lo and behold, I actually enjoyed this! I might be becoming fruited beer tolerant! The ingredients say peach, coconut, pineapple and vanilla and it’s all there on the nose and palate. I would also add ripe citrus. It’s got a smooth body, medium plus acidity and a bright fruity finish. It’s so juicy you could drink it by the gallon. Don’t put a 6 pack of this in front of me during a warm summer day.
Brouwerij Three Musketeers Troubadour Magma NEIPA Special Edition
What a contrast to the fruited sour !! 6.5%. It’s all malted caramel and candied quince. There might be some citrus in there as well but following the fruited sour this was all malt. Not in a bad way mind you but I would have to revisit this.
Full Circle Brew Co. Repeater Session IPA
4.2%. Centennial, Amarillo and Mosaic hops. I liked this. It’s got good bitterness with the citrus taking a back seat. Some pine needles on the palate as well.
Maybe a little nondescript but easy to like.
Brasserie Popihn Icauna Pale Ale
4.8%, 35 IBU, Citra, Mosaïc and Summit hops. Good balance between citrus fruit, bitterness and slightly malted flavors. Drinks easily but easy to forget. That’s been true for quite a few beers in this advent calendar. Maybe it speaks to the drinker moreso than the drinkee! Cheers!
Lervig Julebock Dark Lager
4.7%. This is Christmasy: roasted malt that veers on coffee and licorice on the finish. No overt sweetness and decent balance. Good Xmas beer.
Prizm Brewing Co. Bali NEIPA
5.7%, Citra, Amarillo and Idaho 7. Not a fan of the orange astronaut label but the beer is pretty good in the NE IPA style. The nose is a nice interplay of lemon, pineapple and hoppy greenness. The palate is crispy and fresh as expected with the bitterness staying from entry to finish. Good.
Man, that’s poor planning to put the neipa on day #20!
They used to sell one around here with obscure German beers that was fun, but I haven’t seen it for a few years.
Brasserie du Pays Flamand Anosteké Cuvée d’Hiver
8%. Slightly malty with a hint of caramel. Low effervescence and a distinct off-putting tomato aroma and flavor. I didn’t like this at all.
Big Mountain Brewing Co. Breakfast Stout
6.2%, made with oak and lactose, I was afraid of the result. Turns out this is really good! Coffee and dark chocolate with a little bit of roasted oats on the nose. Creamy mouthfeel with long finish on espresso. Slight bitterness, lovely!
The Garden Brewery Milkshake IPA
6.2%. Nothing offensive about this. Ripe citrus, a little tropical fruits and vanilla cream on the nose. Creamy palate as accepted with decent bitterness amd some cut in the finish. Decent beer.
Bon Secours Blonde de Noël
Very nice. A little shy on the nose with mostly toasted oats and some pitted fruits. The palate is round and generous with a nice yeasty profile, toasted oats again and some pie spices. Very enjoyable.
