What are your Top 5 Champagne Producers

I have always been a fan to the Top Producer threads (all, Red Burg, White Burg, etc.) but I was looking for Champagne and could not find any except for one exclusively for grower producers. This thread is for ALL champagne, both big house and grower and everything else in between. Curious to see what people’s preferences are. My gut tells me big house will be the majority, but I could be wrong.

Here are my top 5:

Roses de Jeanne / Cédric Bouchard 16.4%
Ulysse Collin 10.3%
Jérôme Prévost 6.7%
Emmanuel Brochet 5.0%
Jacques Selosse 4.7%

Big house in my house.

Taittinger 30.6%
Roederer 23.1%
Dom Perignon 16.9%
Bollinger 6.8%
Krug 5.8%

I wish I had more bottles of each (and generally), but my list:

Vilmart
DP
Krug
Egly
Cedric Bouchard

I can only realistically continue to pursue the first on the list due to the increase in prices, unfortunately. :sob:

Taittinger (by a good bit)
Delamotte - (by a good bit)
Chartogne-Taillet
Ruinart and Cedric Bouchard (tied)

The one I wish I had more of is Dom Ruinart, but it is too hard to keep my hands off the ones I buy.

Krug
Savart
Cedric Bouchard
Prevost
Marie Courtin

Taittinger 53%
Krug 29%
Dom 6%
Roederer 6%
Salon 3%

Very concentrated in Comtes BdB and Krug MV.

Bouchard
Prevost
Krug
Dom Perignon
Taittinger
Lurquin

For those people who have Cedric Bouchard as their top producer, how much champagne are you cellaring?’ It’s interesting to me how much it’s in on top 5 lists considering how rare it is.

I’m clearly slumming with zero Dom (not a fan) and almost no Cristal (also not a fan).

Vilmart
Pierre Peters
Hebrart
Rodez
Moussé

and Krug comes in sixth place.

Champagne is a relatively small part of my cellar (~5%), so I guess having Bouchard on top makes sense…

It’s worth noting that Champagne is the most poorly inventoried/tasting note recorded part of my cellar as we just love to drink it, and run through a fair bit with great speed.

My collection has more breadth than depth:

Laherte Frères - 15.9%

Vilmart & Cie - 10.8%

Taittinger - 10.0%

Marie Courtin - 4.9%

Ulysse Collin - 4.2%

Agrapart - 3.9%

Jacques Selosse - 21.9%

Roses de Jeanne / Cédric Bouchard] - 15.6%

Doyard - 12.5%

Étienne Calsac - 9.4%

Ulysse Collin - 6.3%

I have a couple DP, Crystal, Comtes here for special times, but basically buy and drink the $50ish kind of stuff, and look for grower champagnes distributed by Skurnik. In the hoise now would be Pierre Peters, Vilmart, Hebrart and Chartogne

this is a fun math problem - what’s the smallest number of whole bottles that would fit this proportion breakdown. it’s still an enviable amount of selosse!
