What 3 grapes do you drink most often?

That’s not really the point at all, just suspect far less semillon is consumed than say Chenin or Melon or Gamay, particularly by participants here. I like dolcetto and barbera too but suspect they don’t crack many lists as most consumed.

According to ct…

Pinot
Cab
Red Bordeaux Blend just edging out Zin

Over the past few years mine is
PN
Chenin
Gamay
Syrah is a close 4th.

Just on the fact that there’s more weekdays than weekends, Cab Franc and Gamay should be on the list

This year:

Melon
PN
Cab Franc

Last:

PN
Chenin
Chard

  1. Chardonnay (Burgundy)
  2. Rhone Blend (France)
  3. Pinot (a mix of regions)

Now that I think about it (considering it’s roaring sales these days), Prosecco should be on that list.

Isn’t the grape now known as Glera?

Now Lambrusco on the other hand, can refer to either a wine or the grape.

Corey - Prosecco and Glera are the same. Apparently there has been a re-branding effort recently. Roberto posted an article that I found interesting here:

Thanks for the link R yan.

Here’s what the article says about the name change:

The wines made from flatland vineyards were elevated from IGT to DOC status. Equally importantly, the grape variety’s name was changed from Prosecco to “Glera,” a designation that Jancis Robinson MW and her co-authors in the definitive reference volume Wine Grapes call “…both confusing and misleading.” They are correct about that, but there’s no point in detailing their reasons here, because the real reason for the change wasn’t ampelographical accuracy but rather product protection.

I log daily drinkers in CT, so mine are very QPR-driven. Over the last few years, the top three have been:

  • Rhone blend/Grenache (lots of CdR, some Gigondas/CdP/etc.)
  • Tempranillo (mostly crianzas as daily drinkers a while back)
  • Syrah (more spread across the price spectrum than the others above)

Just out of the top three are riesling and pinot, and then it’s a surprisingly gradual dropoff through chardonnay, “red blend,” cab, sangiovese…no big jumps anywhere.

Zin, Syrah, Red Rhone Blend.

To quote a customer of ours “Glera sounds like an STD…did you hear, Penny caught glera from that drummer…”

Same here. Thanks for posting for me.

  1. Riesling
  2. Pinot Noir
  3. So many possibilities, I have no idea. Chenin? Melon? Gamay? Cab Franc?
