Nice reviews for our friend Adam Lee, congrats on all your wines.
Saxum - lots of love
SQN no 100 but solid scores
I tried this already. Here goes again, I was glad to see a review of the 2009 Rhys wines , congrats Kevin. If I am not mistaken, Antonio’s scores are significantly higher. Maybe he appreciates this style of wine . Let’s hope so. Even Without the scores, I was going to buy across the board on the upcoming offer. Joe
Rats, I responded but must have hit cancel instead of post.

I think a couple others too but my computer is so slow loading over there I’m not going to log back in right now.
A quick check of scores of wines I’m familiar with (Carlisle, Saxum, Big Basin, Villa Creek) look very Parker-like (i.e. glowing).
Two other (less fruit-forward) favorites - Ridge and Rhys came out extremely well, with somewhat highter scores than I would have expected from Parker.
Looks like AG reviewed both, but RP also did a vertical of SQN Grenache which included the Upside Down '09 Grenache. So there are 2 reviews of that wine in this issue.
Ken,
I think the review in the “Wines Listed” is also by RP for the Grenache, I didn’t see AG listed by it. The one I was disappointed to see wasn’t reviewed was Lillian.
Yes, I too was pleased to see Antonio give a nod to Rhys and Ridge. Having read Antonio’s reviews of Piedmont, I was somewhat surprised to see his very high regard for very fruit forward and high-alcohol - not to mention the O-word- wines. Admittedly, I like many of those that were highly reviewed, too. Although I am fond of both Sine Qua Non and Saxum, I can’t abide the noxious reductive notes of Alban and dropped off that list a couple of years ago. While many may have hoped for a recalibration of central coast (all of California?) scoring, in retrospect the ‘two points lower across the board’ is cynically unsurprising in many ways. So I will re-exhaust my French by restating: plus ça change, plus c’est la même chose
Reading this thread is compelling me into subscribing to WA again…really interested in reading Antonio’s CA reviews. Sounds like Bob made a good decision.
