you all might not have to go too far in 2026 for vin et hip hop ![]()
LA??? Please!!!
I heard that LA was going to be one of possibly multiple locations in the US.
Have spent time with Jermaine a couple times.
He was in town in August. A few of us did a private dinner with him and a few of his friends. Fundraiser for the Roots fund. Wine from his cellar, paired with good food and hip hop. Was a fun night.
I attended last year in burgundy, fun event but not sure I would do it again. Some of the pics, bottles and events you see online are private winemaker events and not the main party. fwiw
Yeah - somehow having this event and all of the surrounding tastings/dinners at the Hospice and Clos Vougeot sounds so much better than it being in L.A. ![]()
I agree Adam - you have to make it what you want - even more you should try and connect with me or whomever to join in on the tastings and meals!
the hip hop part of the event would be significantly better in LA tho ![]()
I am sad I am not in any of these pictures! A great trip.
Some of my tasting highlights:
-
Tasted with Simon Colin. If you haven’t tasted any of his wines before - he’s getting all of it from his Dad - Philippe Colin - with more to come. Fabulous range - fresh and savory across the board.
-
Had some very nice Noel Ramonet bottles with a lunch up to the Montrachet - this is the other brother… Noel’s sons are making these. Very much liked them and will probably be buying in the future.
-
Tasted at Alex Moreau. Benoit Moreau wines get better press which I don’t understand as I’ve had a “few” of them. Still, I love Alex’s wines and the new vintage(s) are fabulous!
-
Ben Leroux - what can I say - some really nice stuff. His facilities are immaculate - so much space - he’ll continue to be on my buy list for many vintages to come.
-
Roulot was fabulous. Liked all of the wines including the CC.
-
Jacques Carillon was fun - even with the language barrier. Tasted in the same spot as always with the BBM obviously being the best of the range. Very much like these wines…
-
Tasted with Louis Vallet with Charodon. Been buying these wines and like them a lot - will continue to buy and cellar.
-
Tasting with Thibaud Clerget was FABULOUS! He has very good taste in watches if you didn’t know :). The wines are polished and savory - loved them - getting more expensive though.
-
PV Girardin - the wines and wine maker is obviously on the up and up. Fabulous facility and range of wines.
-
AJ Vaona in Vosne - been buying from a recommendation - been wanting to try more. Making many different bottlings here from all of the top vineyards. Big wines with wonderful balance - not a lot to go around though. I was impressed and grateful for the tasting since we were late getting there from lunch :).
-
As mentioned before - the “new” Arnoux-Lachaux wines really did out perform my high expectations for them - great wines coming out of this place. Expensivo though…
Sounds like a great event!
When enjoying with wine my preference is probably more towards a @Robert_Dentice format a la Riesling study.
Yep - no pics :(. Love Le Soufflot and it seems that every time I walk into that place I run into people I know :). Crazy that I also ran into my friend Billy G. from Portland there - also at the table right next to us. lol
Alex, we’ll need to get together somehow in NYC in March or in Atlanta at one of the weekends there!
how was that bizot? also i am curious if anyone knows how he acquired the new cc plot…
Guessing that he has tons of people offering him €€€’s - first on the list POB who I think helped him with the new Marsannay plots.
Sound like a great week of tasting! Simon Colin and I started an Oregon project focusing exclusively on Chardonnay. He is headed over here for Thanksgiving and we are bottling our debut vintage of 2024 wines the week after. The project is called Perry Colin, you can find out more at www.PerryColin.com
Awesome Matt! Simon mentioned the project when we were there - super interesting - will need to try :). Are you ever in NYC for La Paulee - in March? We’re getting together with Simon, some of his cousins, and hopefully a few more for some dinners… If you’re in town - let me know.
P.S. - would love it if you could let us all know how we could get some bottles :)???
The Bizot was incredibly interesting - super rare and I think Le Soufflot got only a couple or so bottles that very day - we kinda knew ahead of time from one in our group I think. Super cool - Bizot is another that I’ve sampled recently and really like - meets and beats expectations especially with the price tags…
I’m tentatively planning on joining Simon for Paulee in NYC. Hopefully we will see you there!
We’re planning on releasing the 2024 wines in early 2026. There’s a “Join Us” section on our website that will shoot me an email so I can add you to the allocation list.
Yes - if you’re there then make sure Simon keeps you in the loop Matt :). Also just sent info through the “Join Us” tab - let me know. CHEERS
