Has anyone received any NEW shipping notices the past two weeks?
They shipped me my first 6 cases, got the notices two weeks ago, received the cases this weekend and today, but nothing NEW since then! I assumed the flurry would begin, but it started and then stopped cold.
I received my last 3 cases over 4 days from 3/19 to 3/22 but not all had email notices. I emailed them asking why my stage 2 order hadnāt arrived yet and here is their lengthy response:
We are shipping orders in the order they were received and also as the wine can be located.
Please remember that we are piecing together the assets of a bankrupt company left non-operational for the better part of a year. Tens of thousands of bottles are not where they should be, nothing is barcoded, and we have been forced to build years of infrastructure in weeks. As a result, that often means picking bottles for a single case can involve traversing an area the size of a Costco and making 12 different stops. More importantly, an average of 1 in every 12 bottles are missing from their designated location, and each instance requires a lengthy process to research and explore other potential spots for a specific bottle. Every time we unearth mistakes in the data, we have to document, communicate and take action to substitute, credit or refund you.
We will notify you via email with tracking information as soon as your order ships. Thank you for your continued patience.
Bought a bunch of single bottles, mainly Riesling. One case recently arrived in good condition and the wines have been mostly great. One big surprise was a sparkling Gewurztraminer (Harvest Moon) from 2013 that, while a bit out of balance, tasted pretty great for an 11-year-old sparkling wine and paired perfectly with spicy Sichuan food. The 2015 dāArenberg āThe Dry Damā Riesling was also in a great spot and brimming with Kabinett-like acidity; age seems to have done really great things for that wine. Also nice was a 2018 Weingut Gunderloch Vom Roten Schiefer Riesling Trocken that had developed some nice blue cheese-esque aromas.
Not all were hits. All the older bottles (from 2013-2015) from an Anderson Valley producer unfortunately all seemed past their prime when opened. Itās always interesting which wines hold up well and improve over time and which ones do not. These did not, but fortunately were very cheap, in the $3-4 a bottle range.
Still awaiting a collection of mostly Riesling singles and then a case of Pinot Noir.
Same here. Case of Waters Cappella mis-listed as Rhone Blend when actually a single vineyard Cab Franc and Merlot blend in most years for $96. Still waiting on case of K Vintners single vineyard Cab for $108.
I have NO idea, but if speculating I would think an even deeper discount on wine would come before shipping discount, as I assume they are currently charging the actual cost for shipping.
