Underground Cellar (wine seller/retailer) OUT OF BUSINESS

Well that doesn’t sound ideal! I don’t know anything about shipping logistics but you’d think that email would be automatic. I’ve literally never received a surprise shipment of wine.

This has happened to me twice but it may be because I receive the wine about 30 miles from the ware house at my worksite in Petaluma. The wines I buy online are generally stored in Napa county and are put on a truck at about midnight and get to me at about 10:30 that morning. Living here is great if you love wine but everything costs 2 - 4 times as much though.

Ok, so given the above chatter about cases showing up without notice, I decided to email them and see how they’re going to handle my very large order. I can’t really afford to stress out my FedEx delivery person or my family receiving 30 cases of wine all at once. Yes, I am now up to 30 cases from this sale in total, including a few new orders and a few cases that are going directly to friends, that I did not include above.

I asked them to ship mine piecemeal, and over the course of multiple weeks, which means they better get started shipping mine soon! Will report back,

Im gonna guess theyre not providing that kind of personalized service here…

I’m with Max on this one. We will get what we get and can’t throw a fit! I’m Just excited to see that the wines are being shipped and arriving safely in most cases.

But I asked very politely….. Will report back.

first order placed 1/29, just got my first two tracking numbers (2 cases out of six)

Just received 2 case shipment notices, which were my very first phase 3 orders on 1/29. A friend also received a shipment notice form an early phase 3 order. Both via UPS.

I agree. We should just be grateful we’re getting our wine at all. I read a lot of online chatter after the bankruptcy announcement predicting that we’d never get it - just like in another well publicized wine seller bankruptcy. Considering that we only had to pay 21% to get our already discounted wine out of hock and were able to have 1st dibs on remaining stock at up to 80% off, I think we came out OK. Notice also that there isn’t any CA sales tax being added to our orders?

Can we morph this thread into “What Underground Cellar wine are you drinking tonight?”?

Hells yes, post what you got, like and dislike here. But I’m still posting about the sale until it’s closed! I’m going for 50!!!

Start a new clean thread! I am really curious to hear people’s experiences with these wines but there is also going to be weeks if not months of shipping logistics talk.

So are we going to start a thread for every retailer now? What are you drinking from Krogers today? Crush, B-21, Binnys.

Those guys who bought the Crystal from WalMart should start a WalMart one too. :berserker: berserker:

How about if we restrict UC wine reviews to only wines that are still available from UC. I just received a mixed case of early stage 3 wine and when I checked the current inventory, only 1 or 2 are still in stock.

I would support a different thread. I think deNegoce’s 2 “what are you drinking” and “latest offer” threads, being separate, works well.

Eh, but by keeping the tasting notes here, it will become a full lifecycle thread! From the heydays of UC to the bitter, but tasty end! I vote for here.

What makes these wines specific to Underground Cellar? They are out of business and you soon won’t be able to buy them anymore.
I get it if you have a TN for a wine that is available right now then post it here and tell everyone asap. As soon as they shut the sale who cares where you bought it from.

The deNegoce one kind of makes sense because while they don’t produce, they are a brand of wine.

I’m just pointing out my thoughts, do what you want…it is Wineberserkers after all.

Here is my answer on LCC shipping my 30 cases all at once, or over time:

Hi,

Thank you for reaching out. Phase 3 orders are shipping in 6-8 weeks. We are not able to hold orders but most likely your orders will be spread out over a few days or weeks so no worries on overloading fedex.

Thank you

Ordering now would seem pretty risky.

I agree that the 2 dN threads make a lot of sense because dN mostly sells mystery wine. The members can discuss likely sources of the wine and whether they taste good or not. This helps others to choose when they don’t have much info on a wine. There are already reviews for most of the UC wines on the web and the site will probably be closed by summer anyway. If you read the older posts here, you’ll see lots of recommendations from members who have tasted particular wines sold on UC so posting reviews on this thread, to me anyway, is not really very different.
