New-ish name to me, though some here are familiar. I was alerted by @Robert_Dentice post a month or so ago. You can get details about Raphaelle in his post What natural wine did you open today? - #40 by Robert_Dentice
Burgundy- though really at the boundary as it’s two plus hours from Beaune in Yonne.
Good wine, reminded me of an Eric Pfiffering wine in that there’s a deft hand, skilled winemaking, if not entire speaking of varietal. Not sure I’d call it Pinot blind, right now, but that doesn’t mean its not entirely pleasing and gulpable. Have a few more of assorted bottles to check out. And I will say these arrived from France on Thursday and I popped Sat- so perhaps a tad reticent- if you believe in letting wines rest a bit.
- 2022 Raphaëlle Guyot Pinot Noir Vin de Pays de l’Yonne Les Robinettes - France, Burgundy, Vin de Pays de l’Yonne (1/26/2025)
This took some time in the decanter to open. There's a deft touch here. It doesn't read Pinot at first. It has an au natural feel, but in the sense it is clean and pure. No flaws. The fruit turns darker, black cherry with a real floral and earth character that comes on. Well made, if somewhat quiet right now. Needs time, too, imo.
